Chapter 75 - Crazy!

Yaoyorozu smiled. "We already beat them. Should be any second."

Bakugo scoffed. "What the hell does that mean?"

Momo just smiled. Toru had it covered. Whatever dumbass thought trapping us in here with some knockoff villain tactics was a genius clearly didn't factor in the invisible girl sneaking through their lines. That was their problem.

Bakugo didn't care about details, anyway. He just wanted an excuse to go apeshit. So, I gave him one.

"We need a distraction." I pointed at the door. "Bakugo I choose you. Go nuts."

Bakugo's grin could've peeled paint off walls. "Finally." He blasted forward, kicking the door off its hinges like it owed him money. The hallway lit up with explosions, the sudden chaos pulling everyone's attention.

"Guess that's our cue," Kaminari muttered, already moving.

We slipped out, taking cover along the walls. The dumbasses outside scrambled to react, caught between their plan falling apart and the human grenade launching himself at them.

Jiro listened for movement. "They're still repositioning, but—" Her jacks twitched. "One's staying back. Different from the others. Giving orders."

"Leader type?" Kirishima asked.

"She is more like a dictator," Jiro muttered.

Great. Some wannabe mastermind playing puppet master. Probably thought she was the second coming of Einstein with this whole gas-trap-lab-rat setup.

"Anyone see her?" I asked.

Shoji nodded. "End of the hall. Watching."

I stepped past the smoke, spotting the one standing apart from the chaos. She wasn't fighting. Wasn't running. Just standing there, watching like she already won.

I hated her already.

She caught my stare and smirked. "U.A. students are so predictable."

I smiled back. "Yeah? What's your name?"

"Does it matter?"

"Not really." I glanced at the others. "Wrap this up."

Toru appeared behind Saiko Intelli and smacked the back of her head. The girl stumbled forward, barely processing what just happened before Toru tapped all three of her targets with a ball, eliminating her instantly.

"Well, that was easy," Toru muttered, dusting off her hands.

Saiko blinked at her, or where she think Toru was, clearly trying to come up with some excuse for why she lost, but nothing came out. Her plan, her strategy, all that overthinking—it didn't mean shit when someone invisible just walked up and took her out like she was a damn NPC.

"Guess all that 'U.A. is predictable' talk didn't mean much, huh?" I said, leaning against my bat.

Saiko frowned but didn't say anything. Her team, who had been oh-so-smug before, suddenly looked like they were reconsidering their whole approach to life.

Toru jogged back to us. "Alright, who's next?"

The rest of the class got moving, tracking down whatever poor bastards were still left. Nobody dragged it out. If someone was open, we took them out fast. No speeches, no hesitation. At this point, most of the other schools had either ganged up or were picking off the desperate loners, but it didn't matter. We had numbers, we had coordination, and most importantly—we weren't idiots.

One by one, everyone passed.

Then, of course, I was the last one left.

Mina turned, pointing at me. "Alright, Ryuu, your turn!"

I waved them off. "Go ahead. I got this."

Yaoyorozu squinted at me. "What the hell are you planning?"

I didn't answer. Quest #4 was too juicy for me to skip, so I had to homerun their asses.

Sero caught on first. "Wait, are you about to—"

I raised the bat, adjusting my grip. "Batter up."

Bakugo scoffed. "You seriously think you're gonna hit those back?"

I waved them off and went hunting for some poor bastard to knock out with a baseball swing.

The exam field was still a mess. Smoke in the air, people scrambling, idiots still thinking they had a shot at passing. Perfect. I adjusted my grip on the bat and scanned the crowd, looking for someone too focused on trying to be cool to notice me lining them up for a highlight reel moment.

Then I spotted her.

A Shiketsu uniform. Short brown hair. Lazy grin. She walked like she had nowhere to be, like the chaos didn't bother her. Her eyes flicked around, scanning people like she was picking out candy. No urgency. No panic.

Weird.

I squinted at her, activating Analyze.

[Camie Utsushimi]

[ERROR: DISCREPANCY DETECTED.]

[IDENTITY CONFLICT: HIMIKO TOGA.]

Oh, you have got to be fucking kidding me.

I gripped the bat tighter and stared at her. Toga—actual serial killer, blood-stealing psycho, and fan of my blood specifically—was just walking around in broad daylight.

She caught me looking. Tilted her head. Smirked.

Oh, she knew.

I sighed. "Drop the act, Toga."

The disguise melted away like ink bleeding through paper, revealing her actual face. Blonde hair, bright yellow eyes, that same damn grin she always had when she was about to do something unhinged.

And she was naked.

I turned so fast I almost gave myself whiplash. "Are you serious?"

Toga giggled. "What? It's just skin, Ryuu~"

I kept my eyes on the sky. "Yeah, and I would rather not get a nosebleed in the middle of an exam."

"Too late~"

I wiped under my nose. Yep. Blood. Fuck's sake.

She took a step closer. "So~ Do I get a hug, or are you gonna be mean again?"

I backed up. "Why the hell are you here?"

She pouted. "Aw, Ryuu, don't be so cold. I just wanted to see you! It's been so long~"

"Two weeks."

"Forever."

I ran a hand through my hair. "You do realize this is a hero exam, right?"

"Yep!"

"And you are a villain."

"Yep!"

I stared at her. She beamed back like this was all perfectly normal.

I took another step back. "Yeah, I'm leaving."

She matched my step forward. "Aw, but you just found me!"

I turned. She dashed in front of me, blocking the path.

She held up her hands. "Wait! Wait, wait, wait—don't go yet! I just wanted to talk!"

"Talk while wearing clothes, then."

She sighed dramatically. "Fine, fine~" She pulled a spare uniform from… somewhere. Probably the same horror dimension I was too afraid to imagine.

I kept my back turned until she was done. "You good?"

"Mhmm~"

I glanced over my shoulder. Fully dressed. Good.

"Alright, so let's get to the part where I tell the proctors you're here and you run away."

She giggled. "You could~"

I started walking.

She popped up next to me, arms swinging behind her back. "Buuut you won't~"

"You wanna test that theory?"

She just smiled, like she already won. "You won't snitch, Ryuu. You like me too much~"

I stopped walking. "I tolerate you at best."

She gasped, hand over her chest. "So cold! You weren't this mean when I was licking your wounds!"

"Excuse me?"

"In the underground~ Remember?"

I did not remember that! "Wait what? What the fuck?"

"Aww, but I took such good care of you~"

I walked faster.

She kept up. "You know, you really need to stop getting kidnapped. I mean, I don't mind, but people are gonna start thinking you like it~"

"Okay, yeah, we're done here."

She sighed. "Fine, fine~ I'll let you go… this time~"

I didn't wait for her to change her mind. I bolted.

The moment I put enough distance between us, I scanned the crowd again, looking for an actual target. Someone I could send home with one good swing.

Then I saw one.

I smirked. "Alright, time to cook."

I spotted my target—a guy from Seijin Academy. Big, cocky, too busy showing off to notice me lining him up for failure.

I tapped the bat against my shoulder. "Left chest. You're out."

The guy blinked. "What?"

I swung.

The ball cracked against my bat and launched back at him like a sniper round. He barely had time to flinch before it smacked dead center on his left chest.

His third target blinked red. Eliminated.

He stared at it. Then at me. Then back at it.

I grinned. "Homerun, bitch."

His eye twitched. "You—"

I walked past him, whistling.

[QUEST COMPLETE: HOMERUN THEIR ASSES.]

[BONUS OBJECTIVE COMPLETE: CALLED SHOT.]

[REWARD UNLOCKED: REBOUND STRIKE.]

[BONUS REWARD: REBOUND STRIKE UPGRADED → PINPOINT REBOUND STRIKE (Allows precise targeting of reflected projectiles.)]

[+1 Dexterity, +1 Agility.]

I grinned like I just got away with murder and made my way to the central building to rejoin the class. By the time I arrived, the exam was already over. Inasa was staring at Todoroki weirdly. I forgot about him withdrawing from U.A. despite being the top recommended student. Aizawa mentioned it before. I waved him over, and he rushed toward me like a dog waiting for orders.

"Yeah?"

I ignored the urge to ask if he needed a leash. "There seems to be a problem with you and Todoroki. What's that about?"

Inasa clenched his fists and looked at Todoroki. "It's nothing."

"Doesn't look like nothing."

Todoroki didn't say anything. Just stared back at Inasa with the same blank face he gave everyone.

I waited a moment, but Inasa didn't look like he was gonna say anything else. Guy was standing there, fists clenched, glaring at Todoroki like he owed him money. Todoroki, on the other hand, looked like he could not care less.

I gave it a second, then shrugged. "Alright. Stay mad, I guess."

Inasa made some noise, but I was already turning away. Second phase was about to start, and I had better shit to focus on than whatever his deal was.

Mera stepped up again, still looking like he wanted to throw himself into traffic. "Congratulations to those who passed," he said, voice as dead as ever. "Now comes the second stage: rescue."

The screens flashed, showing a rundown cityscape. Buildings with cracks, smoke billowing from some of them, overturned cars scattered everywhere. Looked like someone had gone in with a sledgehammer and bad intentions.

"The scenario is a large-scale villain attack," Mera continued. "Your job is to conduct rescue operations, assisting the victims in an effective, efficient manner."

As if on cue, a group of young, old, men and women stepped into view. One of them was stretching like he was warming up for a morning jog. Another adjusted her knee brace.

"Meet the Help Us Company," Mera said. "They specialize in professional victim acting. They will grade your performance."

Someone in the back muttered, "You can get paid for that?"

Mera ignored him. "You will be scored based on how well you handle the situation. Helping victims, prioritizing those most in danger, coordinating with others—these will all affect your final score." He sighed like he had already given up on life. "Try not to screw it up."

The field shifted, platforms moving as the ground rearranged itself. A few seconds later, it looked like an actual disaster zone.

A siren wailed.

"Begin."

"To vote, or not to vote—that is thy move."
