Derrick's POV
I sat at the breakfast table, picking at my food. It was just Anita and me, but honestly, I didn't feel like eating. Ever since I sent Nathan to the weapon quarter two days ago, I hated to admit it — but I hadn't been myself. For a moment, it felt like I was punishing myself more than I was punishing him. I even thought about calling him back to the main pack house, but I held myself back. I sent him away for a reason, and I had to stick to the plan if I truly wanted to achieve my goal.
With a heavy sigh, I twirled the spaghetti around my fork, still unable to force down a bite.
"Derrick," Anita said, calling my name. I didn't look her way, but she continued anyway. "Are you sulking because of Nathan?" she asked, but I didn't give her the satisfaction of a response.
"Derrick, I am everything you want in a woman! Do I not satisfy you more than he does?" she demanded, her voice rising with frustration, but still, I said nothing.
