The sound was deafening, and everyone glanced at each other. The moment seemed to freeze, and the air was stagnant. "Blair," panic blanketed the air. Brandon rushed in, but Lucien staggered behind, his hands still on the trigger, yet to pull. From his side, blood oozed out with an alarming volume and speed.
"You… you shot me," Lucien choked out his words, accompanied by handfuls of blood. Everyone stood rooted to the same spots, panicked, rushing through the air.
"I need a doctor." Lucien's voice rang like a reminder, his weak body slumped to the floor. "Get me a doctor, damn it!" he yelled, and everyone just smiled.
"How the mighty have fallen," Blair said while the scientist helped unbind her. Lucien's eyes widened, his fist held on to the gun, but before he could blink, Brandon kicked the body a good distance.
