Chapter 228 - Chapter 227: Making a Move

Chapter 227: Making a Move

Ishiro and the Uchiha clan Jonin, one chasing and one fleeing, rushed towards the outside of Konoha.

The speed Ishiro displayed was not fast, and the distance between him and the pursuing Uchiha Jonin was slowly closing. Because of this, the opponent did not immediately send a signal for help, and as a result, missed the best opportunity to surround and block Ishiro.

Just as it seemed he was about to be caught, Ishiro activated the Lightning Release Stimulation Method. Then, under the stunned gaze of the Jonin, he burst forth with a speed far exceeding his previous pace, rapidly rushing out of the edge of Konoha Village.

The Jonin knew he had been tricked. He formed hand seals with both hands, and then a giant great fireball shot into the sky.

Ishiro, running ahead, naturally noticed it too. He was somewhat speechless; did everyone in the Uchiha clan come with their own built-in signal flare?

However, Ishiro was no longer afraid of being exposed at this point. When passing through Konoha's outer wall just now, Ishiro had felt a trace of chakra fluctuation, which should have been the barrier.

Presumably, instructions had already been issued from Konoha's sensory team.

Carrying Uchiha Sakai, Ishiro ran at full speed away from Konoha. Konoha, already in a state of alert, acted quickly, and the number of pursuers behind Ishiro grew.

These were not the most troublesome. There were also many ninjas intercepting Ishiro from the front. This was near Konoha, after all, and the density of patrolling ninjas was very high.

At first, Ishiro could still rely on his Mind's Eye to evade in advance, but it became more and more difficult later on.

Finally, Ishiro was intercepted by three squads of patrolling ninjas up ahead.

Fortunately, the strength of the three squads was not strong. In the two squads directly in front and to the right-front of Ishiro, there were two to three Chunin each, while the squad to his left-front had one Chunin leading three Genin.

Without trying to be a hero, Ishiro changed direction and rushed quickly towards the left-front.

Ishiro carried Uchiha Sakai on his back, then formed hand seals with both hands. "Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!" A fireball with a diameter of over ten meters rolled forward directly.

The four-man squad with only one Chunin knew they couldn't resist. They didn't persist and instead opened up a path.

Ishiro passed through the interception smoothly.

But this was just the appetizer. Ishiro continuously encountered patrolling ninjas and ninja squads performing missions in the vicinity. Ishiro chose to hide if he could, and if he couldn't, he would end the fight quickly.

Although the process was smooth, his speed was ultimately slowed down.

And after shaking off team after team of patrolling ninjas, he finally met a tough opponent.

200 meters ahead of Ishiro, at the limit of what his Mind's Eye could sense, 12 chakra sources suddenly appeared. Among the 12, there were 3 Jonin, and the rest were Chunin.

Ishiro's brows furrowed. What was this situation? Three full Anbu squads? When did the Konoha Anbu get in front of him?

The route Ishiro took after being exposed was generally a straight line, with only slight detours. Although his speed had decreased somewhat, it wasn't by much. If one or two ninjas skilled in speed had gotten ahead of him, Ishiro could accept it, but for three complete Anbu squads to appear so abruptly was strange.

With Ishiro's near-Kage strength, plus the burst of speed from the Lightning Release Stimulation Method, it should have been impossible for the Konoha Anbu to get in front of him.

Unless these Anbu were already ahead of Ishiro. But if there just happened to be one Anbu squad on a mission nearby, Ishiro could understand it. For three to appear at once, that was not normal.

Could it be that Konoha had set up an interception network on the outskirts of the village? Impossible. Konoha was so large; to set up interceptions everywhere, how many Anbu would they have to dispatch? Was it worth it for an infiltrator of unknown background?

What Ishiro didn't know was that this was actually his bad luck. He had chosen to leave Konoha from the direction of the Uchiha clan's territory, and the Konoha higher-ups had specifically arranged a security net in this area.

Konoha had not arranged this waiting for Ishiro, but to prevent the Uchiha clan from defecting.

After all, the Uchiha clan was right on the edge of Konoha. If the Uchiha clan made up their minds to leave secretly, the Konoha higher-ups might really not be able to discover it in time.

Ishiro didn't know any of this; this was intelligence that spies couldn't access. So Ishiro had run headfirst into this security net.

Fortunately, this net had just been laid and was not dense. Now, three Anbu squads appeared before Ishiro. If he had waited another month, Ishiro would have had to face at least five Anbu squads.

"Three Anbu squads, is it?" Ishiro carefully distinguished the chakra attributes of these Anbu again. Hmm, good, there were no particularly strange chakras; there shouldn't be any ninja clan members.

Although he had obtained the Uchiha clan bloodline, Ishiro didn't care even if he was exposed. Konoha wouldn't start a war over something like this. At most, they would just make Iwagakure bleed a little, which was a good deal.

But since his identity hadn't been exposed yet, he still had to try and see if he could break through the interception without using Iwagakure's unique ninjutsu.

While rushing forward, Ishiro formed hand seals and cast a Water Clone. Then the main body and the Water Clone attacked together.

"Water Release: Raging Water Wave! Lightning Release: Lightning Vine!" Two B-rank ninjutsu. The Water Release needs no explanation. This Lightning Release: Lightning Vine was something Ishiro created by slightly modifying the C-rank Lightning Guide jutsu. It had no other use and was specifically for performing combination ninjutsu with Water Release.

The two B-rank ninjutsu, cast by Ishiro without regard for chakra consumption, had power approaching A-rank. When combined, their power far exceeded that of a normal A-rank ninjutsu.

Of course, Ishiro didn't expect this one attack to defeat the intercepting ninjas. The Anbu were not that easy to deal with.

Ishiro's goal was to intercept the opponent's group ninjutsu.

As expected, the opponent's tactic was the same as Ishiro's: launch a wave of combination ninjutsu from a distance. Among the 12 people, 5 participated in a Wind and Fire combination ninjutsu.

However, although the opponent had more people, the final power of their ninjutsu was less than the combination ninjutsu cast by Ishiro alone.

After Ishiro's Water and Lightning combination ninjutsu dispersed the opponent's Wind and Fire combination ninjutsu, it still had power left to attack.

This forced the opponent to cancel their original plan of continuing the attack and adopt a defensive stance.

Two earth walls rose from the ground, blocking the greatly weakened combination ninjutsu.

According to the normal tactic of a strong individual against a group of weaker opponents, Ishiro should have rushed into the enemy ranks at this point, disrupted their formation, and then picked them off one by one.

The Konoha Anbu were also prepared for this. Having lost the initiative, they were now waiting for Ishiro to make a move.

But Ishiro did not rashly approach. Unable to expose his Kekkei Genkai, the greatest advantage Ishiro could rely on was his hand seal speed.

So, just as the Konoha Anbu behind the earth wall had blocked the combination ninjutsu and were still guessing which direction Ishiro would break through from, Ishiro's next wave of ninjutsu attacks arrived.

A-rank Water Release Ninjutsu: Water Cutting Technique. This was Ishiro's only completely original A-rank ninjutsu. It was rarely used after its successful development, and all enemies who had seen this ninjutsu had been silenced.

The Water Cutting Technique was Ishiro's strongest group A-rank ninjutsu because although it was a group ninjutsu, its range was small, and it could be used as a single-target attack ninjutsu.

And yet, the Water Cutting Technique was indeed a group ninjutsu, most suitable for dealing with enemies in a dense formation with their line of sight blocked, like the ones in front of him.

Over on the Konoha Anbu's side, the earth wall they were hiding behind was suddenly pierced by a line of water.

Everyone was startled, then secretly rejoiced that the water line had missed; the point where the water line pierced the earth wall was even further to the left of the leftmost person.

But just as their relief arose, a sudden change occurred. The water line suddenly cut horizontally at an extremely fast speed.

This move caught everyone off guard; all 12 people were enveloped by this one attack.

The three on the far right reacted in time and were far enough away to just barely dodge. The remaining nine were all hit. Among the nine, apart from one Jonin who moved a step faster and only lost a leg, the other eight were all cut in half at the waist.

Ishiro was not surprised by this result. This kind of situation could occur if a ninja didn't understand the enemy's intelligence.

And Ishiro's Water Cutting Technique had been specially enhanced in power; this one attack alone consumed 100A of Ishiro's chakra. If it were him back when he was an Elite Jonin, he would never have wasted it like this.

But the effect was also obvious. The remaining four had lost their courage and no longer posed a threat to Ishiro.

Just as Ishiro was about to use a few more ninjutsu to clean up the remaining Anbu, he suddenly felt a huge chakra source coming from behind him.

Not daring to hesitate, Ishiro activated the Lightning Release Stimulation Method, instantly bypassed the remaining Anbu, and continued to retreat into the distance.

"This amount of chakra, such cold chakra... is it Fugaku Uchiha? He caught up so quickly?"

After thinking for a moment, while still running, Ishiro created a Water Clone.

The person who came was indeed Fugaku Uchiha. He had set out from the Police Force headquarters after seeing the great fireball signal.

The position of the great fireball earlier was near the new Uchiha clan territory. Fugaku was somewhat worried about his clansmen, so he didn't notify his subordinates and rushed over alone.

When Fugaku arrived at the location where the Anbu had just intercepted Ishiro, his gaze darkened. He quickly understood what had happened here and also guessed the reason why these Anbu had appeared here.

This matter was more heart-wrenching for Fugaku Uchiha than Ishiro abducting a child from his clan.

"The village is already guarding against us as if we were enemies."

Fugaku looked at the four remaining Anbu with an inscrutable expression and squeezed out two words through gritted teeth: "Report!"

The remaining Anbu didn't dare to conceal anything in this matter. One of the uninjured Anbu immediately said, "Only one enemy, took a boy."

"Skilled in ninjutsu, uses Water and Lightning Release combination ninjutsu, suspected of knowing the Lightning Release Stimulation Method. Has a very powerful group Water Release jutsu; that's the move that took our men down."

Fugaku didn't speak. He passed the few people and chased in the direction Ishiro had left.

Not long after, Fugaku encountered the Water Clone left by Ishiro.

Fugaku, with his three-tomoe Sharingan activated, quickly judged from experience that this was not Ishiro's real body.

Just as he was about to end it quickly, Ishiro's Water Clone spoke.

"Senior Fugaku, is it possible to leave the Uchiha clan a path to survive?"

Fugaku moved quickly. Just as Ishiro finished speaking, he had already punched and destroyed Ishiro's Water Clone.

However, after destroying Ishiro's Water Clone, Fugaku did not immediately give chase. He stood on the spot, thinking silently for a moment, then turned around and walked back towards Konoha Village.

If he hadn't encountered those Anbu just now, Fugaku wouldn't have been so moved by Ishiro's single sentence. But with the matter of those Anbu monitoring and guarding against them fresh in his mind, Fugaku had to take Ishiro's words to heart.

After walking back for a while, Fugaku encountered the pursuing ninjas, among whom were members of the Uchiha clan as well as ordinary Konoha ninjas.

Everyone was somewhat puzzled to see Fugaku returning alone. The Jonin who had initially tracked Ishiro and then set off the fire jutsu signal stepped forward and carefully asked, "Lord Clan Head, has Sakai been recovered?"

Fugaku Uchiha glanced at him, then at the other ninjas not far away, his gaze lingering on the Anbu among them for a moment. Then he said faintly, "Lost the trail. We're returning to the village."

The Jonin was puzzled and wanted to say something, but he held back. Then, the Uchiha clan members followed their clan head back to Konoha.

The remaining ninjas looked at each other, not understanding why Fugaku had stopped the pursuit.

Finally, after a discussion, the Anbu continued the pursuit, while the other ninjas returned to the village to report to the Third.
