Late Night
Charles and Edward were lying side by side on Edward's bed. Edward held a book in his hand, reading aloud in a gentle voice while Charles hugged him from the side, listening quietly.
"And then," Edward read, "the girl passed out… and the man who loved her cried. Another woman appeared and said, 'I will be your wife.' The end."
Charles blinked slowly. "That was quite a long story," he murmured. "I feel sad for the man… The girl he truly loved died, and he had to marry someone else."
Edward glanced at him with soft eyes. "We're like mirrors," he said thoughtfully. "But still… stories like these are made for adults."
Charles nodded. "Yeah… You're right."
There was a silence between them, comfortable and warm. Edward looked at Charles. "Do you… want to sleep here tonight?"
Charles didn't hesitate. "Yes. I want to."
