The next morning after I woke up, I felt at home once again, a sudden hit of nostalgia hit me, I looked around to see why, then I saw on the floor of the room it was a pendent, it was my pendent that I had wore just before I got here and I forgot to take off the day I reached that forest, I thought to myself " I haven't opened it since I got it, what is inside of it?" my curiosity had peaked my parents before they had died told me, when I thought I ever felt lost and didn't have anyone to help me, just open it and you would gain all the knowledge that I would need to live on, on the same fateful night my parents died in the accident, I felt lost when I saw them dead in front of me I thought if this was the moment that they were talking about but I chose not to open it and I waited , I was only five any ,five year old would have cried if they understood what had happened but I didn't shed a tear everyone at the funeral thought I was crazy and I felt no emotion I was disregarded for nothing more than a monster , I still have a vivid memory of what transpired, even after so many years had past, I still have nightmares about those days, and before I could think about anything else "Mister Kai, come down for breakfast, it would be waiting for you" I just sat there with no thought but I couldn't just sit around and avoid my responsibilities, so I got up and went down to see my tasty meal waiting for me on the table, I for one love food, for all of its glory there isn't a man or woman in the universe who doesn't like it, I mean its food for gods sake without it you would die all my worries had disappeared and I calmly wore the pendent, and I sat down for the meal and prayed," Say Mister why do you pray before you start eating, for all the people I have served you are the only one that does it *takes out a barrel of wine from beneath the desk* say would you care for a drink with that, you might get thirsty with your meal" I then jokily said back that I would love a drink and I was just thinking about it, thinking this world followed the same principles of my original world and also told him the reason why I prayed before I ate, it was a sign of gratitude to all the framers and the person who made the food.
The man slammed a big jug of wine in front of me and said "Only drink as much as you can okay I don't want you to overdo it." I was never good at saying no to people, so I had two choices either I could chug half of the whole thing and say myself from being shamed by the man who is letting me stay at the inn for 5 nights straight or I could just leave it and waste the generosity of the gentleman, I knew what I had to do, in my eyes there was only one solution to this impending problem, so I started to chug half of the jug around the quarter of the way there I was really feeling the pressure now, my mouth was filled with wine but I somehow managed to finish half of it, I couldn't feel my mouth yet there was still food on my plate so I had to finish it, every bite tasted bitter and unfruitful, I couldn't let that hinder my perspective in front of someone else so I ignored it as much as I could, I cleaned my plate of all the food and started to head out for the preparation of the quest, I nodded at the man at table as a symbol of affirmation and I headed out.
Kai went around some shops and checked out to see what things were there to see, he then saw a random ally way which seemed strange and Kai probably shouldn't even thought of the mere idea of going inside the ally way, but he felt a strange aura inside it and he couldn't resist the temptation, his crave to find out what lies for him in the depths of the unknown, and he had time to spare anyways so it wouldn't hurt to go on a small venture would it?, he went inside slowly with caution, didn't want to attract anyone suspicious, he sent deeper and deeper until he saw a strange light, "Welcome Mister Skinwalker we had been awaiting your arrival, by 'we' I mean myself, you have been the news of the capital ' A strange man named himself Skinwalker, and knocked out Big Bertha' * Opening up a closed wall using magic behind it which has a shop behind it* well than Skinwalker what brings the likes of you to my humble little shop" this man was quite small in size, it managed to startle Kai enough to push him against a wall, this small man was what they call themselves 'Dwarfs' , they were said to be a pack of them when ever you would see even one, but after years of wars and devastation to their race, they are found in a very rare amounts, you can go a lifetime sometimes without seeing one of them, but for once Kai's intuition had come in handy, he met a person that most people don't even believe that they exist, now he was curious "This shop of yours what does this shop provide, is there something that can come in handy during my utmost fantastic adventure, I will buy you a beer or two only if you hand me something of equal value." Kai never missed a chance to get a discount on anything he buys, these small creatures were beings of power, the crafts they made was of nothing short of perfect, no human or any race in that matter could ever achieve, this is because every one of them were blessed by the Divinity of War and War crafts, they were born master crafts men, and depending how good they used there skills they were all ranked, but as for now Kai was more intrigued about the shop, the shopkeeper was glad to take beer as compensation, they love beer more than there very lives, its what Kai assumes anyways.
"Yes, Yes I would be over joyed if you paid with some booze, come I will show you my wares, I have collections of spell books, tomes, weapons, accessories, and some fine staffs, chose what you must" Spell books and tomes huh? they sound pleasing but as far as I need now is some knowledge about the abomination that I am about to kill and what I need to kill it, "Tell me what I need to know about Plant-Vex and what I need to kill it, *Leaning towards the shopkeeper and maintain a steady eye contact* and you better not sell me some random shit and lie to my face right now" The keeper stepping back a bit and swore he wouldn't lie, he told me that the best way to kill them is to never approach them from the front nor the back, always keep on moving if you even stop for a moment they will catch you, there attacks are mostly come in a straight line so if you are vigilant and your reaction time is on par with you movement that would come in handy, and he added a point that kind of got my hopes up "We you are able to kill three wolfs, you would easily win against Plant-Vex"
I didn't exactly kill 'Three' wolf but I did kill two and the last one ran away so I would qualify myself able to kill it, he also handed me a scroll, and told me to open it so without much thought I opened it, just a spilt second later I felt a surge of power flowing inside me, it made me kneel to my knees it wasn't 'pain' it felt like my body couldn't handle it, luckily enough it went away after a few minutes, I got up quickly and grabbed the small creature by the collar and pulled him up and I spoke up angrily "What did you just do to me, was that some trick to kill me? hav-" "The user has learned the skill 'Flame coat' you can coat any part of you body or anything you hold, the object would be affected by the flames and would burn if flame coat is used on the users body it would not be affected by the flames, this skill carries on until the user cancels the spell, runs out of mana, or the spell is canceled by the person affected by it" realizing what the Dwarf gave to me and understanding that he wanted to help me either than hurt me, I let him down slowly and apologised for my mistake and I would compensate for my mistake by giving him a extra beer on top of what he was planning to give, he said that his name was Valkadis, but he is commonly called Val so its easier to call him, he was very kind for him not get mad after I rushed at him without any warning, he simply said that it was his fault of not telling me what the scroll could do to me and I was the second human he has seen in many days, I later felt bad for lifting him up and getting angry at him, yet who in there right mind will not think they are being attacked if a mysterious scroll had made them suffer for no reason, I told Val when I would return he would be handsomely rewarded, he gave me a big smile and waved me off out of the ally way.
When I left the dark ally it was about to be dark so I had to go now or never and my chance of becoming a mercenary would be stumped forever, I asked a few people around to see were the meadows were and soon or later, I laid there till the monster came for me, it was the meadows it was windy, the grass blew ever so gently over me, I looked up at the sky and saw three moons, one was bright red ,one blue and one pale white as the snow, I thought to myself that I really am in an another world with whole new system for norms as I was about to finish my thought, I saw a big pike covered my view and it was coming towards me I didn't have time to react to it, it was already to close to dodge now as soon as it was a bit far away from me, I had a sudden urge to sneeze I couldn't hold it in, just as it was about to strike "Achooo!" it pierced the ground beside me , it was so close to me if I hadn't sneezed and moved just a bit my head would have been blown off it still somehow managed to scratch a bit of my cheek.
I had no more time to waste I jumped up away from the big pike and looked around myself to see where it was , and I didn't have to look far, it was huge with shiny sharp looking leaves and it had a mouth in the centre of the petals, in that very moment I don't know what had gotten into me, instead of being scared I grinned from ear to ear I felt excited for some reason, I felt my blood coursing through my body, whatever I was feeling it was great I wanted to feel more of this , I pulled out my dagger and got in a stance to fight, the abomination and I were in a stand still, first one to attack and injure the other one first, would have the upper hand, I counted down in my head "3...2...1... Skill activate 'Determination' And 'Sprint'!! " I lunged myself quickly on the side of the Plant to break its focus but I couldn't stay there for long or it would notice me, so I jumped for the attack at its stem with the dagger, *Clang!* it blocked it using its leafs, so they didn't look shiny, and it didn't just look sharp it is sharp, as it was made out metal! it is a plant so it had more than one leaf to attack from and so one came from behind me, I jumped to the side and blocked it and my dagger broke a bit from its blunt side, but I still went on attacking ,then it spat out something out of its mouth I thought "Ewww! what's that!" I then understood it was a poison ball! now I had to fight it while it spat poison and it attacked quickly , all of a sudden one of my attacks hit but it almost got me killed, I thought "Yes I could do this!" but my hopes were quickly demolished, it had grown back the part that I slashed out I thought "You are taking full advantage of bring a plant aren't you?!", I didn't like that as much as the other attacks but it somehow found a opening in my defences while I was standing still and attacked without a moments notice, it thought it had won, I smirked and said "You feeble little creature, you have no comprehension about the human mind, let me give you a pro tip, human minds are a bitch! Skill Activate 'Flame coat'! " You see I was not standing there just so I wanted to die I was reading what Flame coat could do, and since its a plant and its stem and rest of the body is still like a plant so it could provide mobility for the leaves to move as freely as they do, the leaves of course were metal so I couldn't do too much about that , making it burn was the only solution to it , so making a opening for it to attack is the only logical solution, since my 'Determination' skill has wore off and 'Sprint' is about to end and if that ends my stamina is going to zero, I should make this last effort worth it, as the leaf got to me I slipped back as soon as it got to me, and Val was right it could only attack straight, I took major advantage of this and grabbed onto the leaf and activated 'Flame Coat' the flames appeared out of my hand and just in a blink of and eye, the flames spread through out the Plant-Vex, it began from one of the leaves and spread almost to the main body, in a effort of desperation it cut of one of its own leaves but that only made it worse as not only it was now one leaf short but also it had began to spread from that leaf, it was total chaos, it was frantically trying to live and even tried to attack me as it burned, yet it was futile, its movements were predictable, it was time to give the last blow five seconds before my stamina wore out, I lunged towards its head and chopped it off, after I killed it I fell right to the ground, I had no more energy to walk even " The user has gained the right to chose one feature and one skill from the Abomination Plant-Vex, what would the user like?" " I don't care give me whatever you think is best system" I spoke with all the little energy I had, "Understood Skill- Parallel thought and Feature- Steel Leaf has been opted, Skill 'Decipher' has been used " with my last thought of being grateful that I was alive I slept as it was till night and I really needed this.
"Mister 'Skinwalker' hasn't come back yet, so I am guessing one more of our kind has died, and after that big speech its been two days since he went off, guess we can cross him off then" Miss Pres. of receptionist said this the very next morning she went to the guild, to check whether if I had come out alive or not, she was disappointed that I haven't come back alive yet, "Who is crossing off the Great name of the Undead! I am still alive and walking please and Thank you! take your proof of the Plant-Vex he was a piece of cake to kill!" I bust through the door with one of the leaves, on my back carrying it from the meadows to the guild alone, "Well those scars tell me otherwise Skinwalker" I just ignore her comment and sit on one my the chairs, the lady upfront was surprised that someone finally beat Plant-Vex all on there own, but she had to rush to the back and register me, she asked for my card so I hurried and gave her my card, she thanked me and went to the back, she came as quickly as quickly as she came, she handed the card over to The Pres. she just walked towards me with the card and said "Well Skinwalker we are glad to have you, hope you do great things for us and keep on killing those abominations *Takes out a pouch of money* and here is some compensation for your troubles. " I swiped both the money and card from her thanked her gracefully and slept like a baby on the table beside, I wasn't planning on moving for the next day due to all the hurt my legs were in while carrying the leaf.
