Arjun stood on the rooftop of an old factory in Sokovia, the cold night air brushing against his face. Below him, the Hydra base was alive with activity—guards patrolled the perimeter, and inside, monsters in the making were being held against their will.
He clenched his fists.
He had come here alone.
He wasn't supposed to be here alone.
But Tony had found out.
And now—the Avengers were coming.
His earpiece buzzed.
"Arjun, you better have a damn good explanation for sneaking off to Sokovia," Tony's voice growled in his ear.
Arjun exhaled. "I can handle this."
"You mean you could have handled this until I tracked your ass down," Tony shot back. "Did you think you could take down an entire Hydra base by yourself?"
Arjun frowned. "Yes."
Silence.
Then—Steve Rogers' voice cut in.
"We're already en route. Stand by."
Arjun's jaw tightened. Damn it. He had wanted to handle this alone. But at the same time—Hydra wasn't a solo mission.
And deep down, he knew it.
He stepped back from the ledge and muttered, "Fine. But don't slow me down."
---
The Quinjet roared through the night sky, slicing through the clouds like a blade.
Inside, the Avengers prepped for war.
Steve adjusted his shield. "This isn't just about Hydra anymore. They've got enhanced individuals in there. We need to be careful."
Natasha checked her Widow's Bites. "Careful isn't exactly our style."
Thor spun Mjolnir in his hand, a smirk forming. "Then let us give them a battle worthy of legend."
Tony sat in the cockpit, eyes locked onto the ground.
"This wasn't the plan," he muttered. "I was supposed to keep him out of the fight, not drag him into it."
Bruce, standing beside him, adjusted his glasses. "You raised a Stark, Tony. Did you really think he'd just sit back?"
Tony exhaled sharply. "Guess not."
Then—the Hydra base came into view.
Steve's voice was calm but commanding. "All right, team. You know the drill. Let's move."
---
The Avengers hit the ground hard.
Steve led the charge, his shield ricocheting off guards as he plowed through their ranks.
Natasha weaved through the chaos, silent and deadly, her Widow's Bites dropping enemies in rapid succession.
Thor crashed into the fray, lightning shattering the sky as he swung Mjolnir, sending Hydra soldiers flying.
Tony, in full Iron Man gear, blasted his way toward the security systems, shutting down Hydra's defenses with rapid precision.
Arjun, clad in his adaptive combat suit, moved through the battlefield like a ghost.
One moment, he struck with Captain America's efficiency—the next, he weaved like Natasha, dodging bullets before they were fired.
Hydra soldiers barely had time to react before they were on the ground.
Tony caught sight of him in the chaos and cursed under his breath.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., remind me to ground that kid after this."
---
Inside the Hydra base, the security system was reinforced by a powerful energy shield, preventing the Avengers from advancing further.
Tony landed beside the control terminal, his suit scanning the defenses.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., tell me this is something I can crack."
J.A.R.V.I.S. responded smoothly, "The shield is powered by an external generator within the base. You will need to disable it manually."
Tony groaned. "Of course. Nothing's ever easy."
Thor stepped forward, gripping Mjolnir. "Perhaps a bit of lightning will—"
"Wait, wait!" Tony interrupted. "This isn't some Asgardian relic. If you hit it with lightning, you could fry everything inside."
Steve glanced at Tony. "So what's the plan?"
Tony smirked, tapping his helmet. "I'll take care of it. Cover me."
Rocketing into the sky, Tony flew toward the generator, dodging Hydra anti-air fire as he maneuvered toward his target.
Inside the base, Baron Strucker watched the feed with a smirk.
He turned to two shadowy figures behind him.
"It's time," he murmured.
---
The battle outside raged on, but within the deepest chambers of Hydra's base, something far more dangerous was awakening.
Wanda and Pietro Maximoff.
Their minds were clouded—not by choice, but by force.
A hidden neural implant buried deep in their minds pulsed with Hydra's control, making their thoughts sluggish, their rage amplified.
They weren't themselves.
And Strucker knew it.
He leaned forward, pressing a button on his console.
"Destroy them."
In an instant—the twins vanished.
---
Steve barely had time to react before a red blur slammed into his chest, sending him flying backward.
Thor spun, raising Mjolnir—only for his vision to warp, the world twisting around him.
A surge of crimson energy wrapped around him, dragging him to his knees.
Wanda Maximoff stepped forward, her eyes glowing with unnatural power.
Pietro zipped between the Avengers, delivering lightning-fast strikes, knocking Clint unconscious before he could nock an arrow.
Natasha attempted to fight back, but she was too slow.
Pietro smirked as he appeared beside her in an instant, delivering a kick to her stomach that sent her skidding across the battlefield.
Arjun saw it happen.
His mind raced.
"Who the hell—"
Then, he saw their eyes.
Vacant. Controlled.
Something wasn't right.
---
Arjun barely had time to react before Pietro appeared in front of him.
A fist struck his jaw, sending him staggering.
He activated his suit's combat prediction mode, allowing his movements to adjust—but Pietro was too fast.
Arjun swung, but the blow missed.
A second hit connected to his ribs.
Arjun's suit recalibrated, shifting into a defensive counterstyle.
He exhaled sharply. Okay. Fast. Too fast. But predictable.
Arjun twisted mid-air, using his suit's energy pulse to propel himself backward, gaining some distance.
But then—
Wanda's voice whispered in his mind.
"You're not real."
His vision darkened.
Flashes of pain, war, and death consumed him.
He saw Tony turning away from him, disappointment in his eyes.
He saw New York burning.
He saw himself—alone.
His breath hitched.
And for the first time in this fight—
He hesitated.
A moment was all it took.
A scarlet wave of energy slammed into him, sending him crashing into the rubble.
---
Above them—
Tony finally disabled the shield generator.
The Hydra base's defenses crumbled.
Alarms blared as the facility began to self-destruct.
Tony hovered above the battlefield, surveying the chaos below.
His eyes locked onto Arjun, unconscious beneath the rubble.
His son.
Something inside Tony snapped.
His hands clenched into fists.
He turned to the Maximoff twins—
His arc reactor flaring with energy.
"Alright," he muttered.
"My turn."
