POV: Ingrid Devereaux
I lunged forward, but the chains tying my wrists to the floor stopped me short. Pain shot through my shoulders as I strained against the silver links.
"You have no idea what you're doing!" I shouted at my son. "That girl will destroy everything!"
Elias stood at the head of the pack circle, his face hard as stone. Beside him stood Amara Kings, the witch who had bewitched him. Around us, the entire Artemis Pack watched in silence.
"Mother," Elias said, his voice cold. "You stand accused of conspiracy against your Alpha and planning against his true mate. How do you plead?"
I laughed bitterly. My own kid. My flesh and blood. Now he looked at me like I was a stranger.
"I plead that I was trying to save you," I spat. "Save all of us."
The pack hall fell silent. Outside, I could hear the sounds of fighting. The Mother's followers were still striking, led by Amara's brother. But that fight seemed far away now. This was a different kind of fight.
