The blue light spread across the room like waves. Wherever it touched, The Mother's followers fell to their knees.
I fought off Dorian and raced toward Amara, avoiding the pulsing energy. I had to reach her before the eclipse hit totality.
Just as my fingers touched the straps holding her down, Viktor tackled me from the side.
"You won't ruin this!" he snarled, his face transforming – not into a wolf, but into something older and more frightening.
As we fought, I saw Luther recovering, picking up the ritual knife again.
"Amara!" I shouted. "Use your power! Now!"
Her eyes met mine, glowing bright blue in the dimming room.
"I don't know how," she cried.
"Yes you do," I insisted, fighting against Viktor's grip. "You're stronger than all of us."
As the eclipse hit totality and the moon turned blood-red outside, Amara closed her eyes. The blue light around her increased, becoming almost blinding.
