Dolly uprooted the weeds around the roses she had planted. It fascinated her. She had planted twenty different species of roses, and they were growing rapidly. She smiled to herself as she watered them.
She had been working for hours and forgot to check the time. Her stomach grumbled violently, but she focused on feeding the bunnies in their cages instead.
The school had permitted her to raise animals, too, as long as they weren't dangerous. She had a parrot named Captain and a fish she called Ariel Flounder after the Disney fish because he reminded her of it.
Her rabbits, Karrot and Karen, were expected to start producing babies soon.
Her mouth was dry, and sweat gathered on her face. Covered in dirt, she felt exhausted, but this was her happy place. She smiled to herself.
"Don't feed Karrot too many carrots, okay?" Benny warned her.
