Valentius picked up the heavy barrel and began to carry it towards the gates. In happier times, he thought this barrel might have had wheat inside. Or barley! Or maybe even sauerkraut!
But these times were not happy.
He had looked only at the bigger picture. At the Archdemons, secured in their frozen wasteland. Those mana berserkers who could bring down an entire army by themselves.
But the enemy that plagued the common people, his people, was something weaker, but no less gruesome.
Goblins, ogres, giants, orcs… the list went on and on. Valentius knew that there was no purging the land of them all. That even if he tried, he would be met with resistance.
But that didn't mean he couldn't use his status as Nero's heir to rein them in. The orcs could be given their land. Or migratory rights. They were the tamest of the bunch.
Ogres…
Valentius had no clue how to deal with those. They were weak against sunlight, provided they were purebred. But most were dungeon-made.
