Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: Free Activities

The old man sighed helplessly. "You never take things seriously. All you do is joke around with your grandpa."

The old and the young exchanged words with laughter as they walked upstairs.

Back to Silas

He naturally had no idea what had happened after he left. After retrieving the Luxury Balls containing his three Pokémon, he returned to his room.

Checking the schedule Brock had sent him earlier, he noted that the trip lasted six days and seven nights.

The battles were scheduled for the fourth and fifth days of the voyage, just before returning.

The competition followed an elimination format, with matchups determined by random draws. Each participant would battle one-on-one, with the top eight being decided on the fourth day, meaning each contestant only needed to win two battles to advance. The fifth day would determine the champion.

Simply put, winning five consecutive matches meant winning the championship.

Additionally, on the fifth night, there would be a small private banquet on the sixth deck, exclusive to those participating in the tournament.

"So, I basically have three full days to relax?"

That was Silas's first thought.

After all, he'd spent the last ten-plus years of his life struggling, and even recently, he hadn't truly relaxed.

Now that he had a rare chance to unwind, how could he pass it up? Besides, training and learning required a balance of work and rest; otherwise, it would be counterproductive.

Lazily sitting on the bed, he released all three of his Pokémon from their Poké Balls. Since the room was spacious enough, there was no need to keep them confined.

"Pidgeot!" "Combusken!" "Roggenrola!"

The three Pokémon called out joyfully as they appeared.

Silas smiled at their excitement. "So, for the next three days, you guys can play and relax. Just keep up with basic training about an hour per day should be enough."

That sounded perfect.

Even though Pidgeot, Combusken, and Roggenrola were used to regular training, that didn't mean they didn't want some time to enjoy themselves.

Hearing their trainer say this, the three Pokémon were visibly delighted.

Silas stood up and took out three identification tags he had just requested from the ship's staff.

These tags were meant to be worn by Pokémon, allowing them to move freely around the ship. This was especially important for Pidgeot; otherwise, flying too high could result in being mistaken for a threat and attacked by the ship's security Pokémon. With these tags, such misunderstandings wouldn't happen.

After attaching the tags to each Pokémon, he gently reminded them like a concerned parent:

"Pidgeot, there's a perch on the balcony where you can rest, or you can stay in the room. When flying around, don't go too far, and remember to come back on time for meals."

"Combusken and Roggenrola, you can rest in the little Pokémon room prepared for you. If you go out, make sure to wear your tags."

"Especially you, Roggenrola. Don't wander off and fall into the water!"

The three Pokémon nodded enthusiastically before going their separate ways.

Pidgeot flew straight to the perch on the balcony, preferring the open air.

Combusken led Roggenrola to the Pokémon playroom, which had a variety of toys designed for Pokémon.

As for Silas? He flopped onto the bed and took a nap.

"Hooooooot!"

The deep sound of the ship's horn woke up Silas and his Pokémon.

Frowning slightly, Silas rubbed his messy hair and opened the curtains.

Outside was a breathtaking view of the open sea endless blue waves stretching to the horizon. In the sky, flocks of Flying-type Pokémon soared gracefully.

In the distance, a lighthouse stood faintly visible.

The gentle morning sunlight shone warmly, making everything feel peaceful and refreshing.

Silas yawned, got up, and went to the bathroom to freshen up.

After a bit of grooming, he transformed back into his clean and handsome self.

Once his Pokémon had finished their breakfast, he let them roam freely.

Pidgeot chose to go out and fly around.

Roggenrola preferred to stay in the room and rest.

Combusken hesitated for a moment before deciding to accompany Silas outside.

Before leaving, Silas reminded Pidgeot to return by noon, then put on his sunglasses and headed to the first-deck with Combusken.

Many other trainers had also brought out their Pokémon, though most were small and cute companions, like Pichu, Eevee, or Skitty, rather than battle-oriented ones.

Of course, a few trainers had brought their battle Pokémon, but most of them were mid-sized.

Only a small number had giant Pokémon like Snorlax, which, fortunately, weren't causing structural damage to the ship, thanks to the reinforced deck.

Silas casually picked up breakfast and, instead of eating in the dining hall, chose to enjoy his meal out on the deck.

Leaning against the railing, he placed his cup in a secure slot and admired the ocean view while munching on a sandwich.

Taking occasional sips of rich, creamy milk, he felt himself sinking into a state of complete relaxation.

Combusken, watching Silas, decided to mimic him, but there was a problem—

At 1.35 meters tall, Combusken couldn't see over the railing.

Only the three feathers on its head peeked over the edge.

After struggling for a moment, Combusken gave up and tugged on Silas's sleeve, pointing into the distance.

"Combusken!"

Silas looked in the direction his Pokémon was indicating.

It was an artificial beach, specifically designed for land-based Pokémon that couldn't enter the water. Many Pokémon were playing there.

"Go ahead, just make sure to come back by noon."

With a wave of his hand, Silas signaled for Combusken to enjoy itself.

"Combusken!"

With a cheerful response, Combusken ran off excitedly toward the sandy play area.

Shaking his head with amusement, Silas finished his meal, threw away the trash, and headed for the third deck.

His morning plan was to observe the battles at the training grounds and scout for strong opponents.

"Raticate, use Hyper Fang!"

"Butterfree, dodge upward and counter with Psychic!"

"Scyther, finish this!"

"Aipom, use Iron Tail!"

As soon as he entered the battle arena, the previously soundproofed space became filled with noise commands from trainers, cheers from spectators, and the clashing sounds of Pokémon battling.

Silas's gaze swept over the battlefield, quickly spotting several strong Pokémon.

One in particular stood out—a Scyther.

Its sleek green body and razor-sharp blades gave it an overwhelmingly aggressive presence. It had already defeated three or four Pokémon in a row.

Silas narrowed his eyes.

This Scyther's trainer was likely one of the few competitors in this tournament who had a Advance-level Pokémon probably a Gym Leader's successor.

Certainly not a weak opponent.

After observing for a moment, Silas moved on to find his next target.
