Chapter 102 - Please punish me.

Wei Xiang's obese body trembled violently as he forcibly swallowed his threatening words.

"Mr. Yang, I was wrong earlier. I apologize to you now—I'm sorry!"

The previously arrogant Wei Xiang suddenly seemed like a different person, actually bowing his head to apologize to Yang Chen.

His abrupt change in attitude left even Yang Chen momentarily stunned—had he been beaten into submission?

Yang Chen didn't respond, instead watching Wei Xiang with an amused expression. The younger generation of Jiangzhou's four major families truly had no simpletons among them.

"Mr. Yang, to be honest, I didn't come to you because I wanted this villa. It's because a certain influential figure has taken a liking to it."

Wei Xiang wore a troubled expression, and it didn't seem like he was lying. Someone genuinely must have set their sights on the property.

Yang Chen understood immediately. He had originally instructed Luo Bin to purchase Cloud Peak Summit for him. Now that someone else wanted it, the Wei family had sent Wei Xiang as an intermediary—meaning the person behind this had significant influence.

"Whoever wants Cloud Peak Summit has nothing to do with me. I'm not selling! Now get lost!" Yang Chen said coolly.

"Mr. Yang, this villa was developed by our Wei family after all. Even though you have connections with Luo Bin, the other party's background is far greater. They're willing to pay an extra ten million on top of the original price."

A flash of displeasure crossed Wei Xiang's eyes, but he suppressed his anger and said, "I hope you'll think carefully, Mr. Yang. Don't bring unnecessary trouble upon yourself."

"I bought this villa with my own money, and my name is on the deed. Regardless of who developed it, this is my private property. Just because someone likes it, I'm supposed to sell?"

Yang Chen smirked. He didn't understand the Wei family's logic.

"Mr. Yang, don't push it! The other party is offering you an extra ten million—aren't you satisfied? Fine, if you're worried about having nowhere to live, I'll personally arrange for you to receive another villa at the foot of the mountain as compensation!"

Wei Xiang gritted his teeth. Even the most ordinary villa at the base of Nine Peaks Mountain cost over ten million.

Yang Chen narrowed his eyes. The other party's influence must indeed be substantial if they could make the Wei family go to such lengths to acquire this villa at a premium.

"Are you deaf, or just stupid? Do I need to repeat myself more clearly?"

Yang Chen's tone turned icy. Wei Xiang might have been trying to negotiate, but his condescending attitude was grating.

"Yang Chen! Don't think that just because you know Luo Bin, you can strut around Jiangzhou as you please! The current Yan Chen Group has split from the Yu family—what's there to fear?"

Wei Xiang snapped, "Let alone a mere branch manager like Luo Bin—in front of our Wei family, he's nothing! If you think having him as your backer gives you free rein, you're sorely mistaken!"

Yang Chen sighed inwardly. At its peak, even a regional manager of Yan Chen Group could make local tycoons tread carefully.

Now that news of Yan Chen Group's separation from the Yu family had spread, even a small place like Jiangzhou no longer regarded it with respect.

To them, the current Yan Chen Group was nothing more than a toothless tiger.

Instead of anger, Yang Chen laughed. "Do you really think my confidence comes from Luo Bin?"

"Doesn't it?"

Wei Xiang sneered. "We've long since investigated your background. You're just the live-in son-in-law of a third-rate family. If Luo Bin hadn't taken a fancy to your wife, would he even acknowledge you as a friend?"

Yang Chen's eyes glinted coldly. So, many people believed his relationship with Luo Bin was due to Qin Xi.

"Before you, the Guan family acted just as arrogantly. But soon after, they vanished without a trace. Now the Wei family is behaving the same way. Tell me—do you think the Wei family might follow in the Guan family's footsteps one day?" Yang Chen asked with a smile.

The events at the Guan family last night hadn't leaked. Even the Wei family was unaware.

Hearing Yang Chen mention the Guan family's downfall, Wei Xiang scoffed. "Ignorance truly is bliss. The Guan family might not be as powerful as ours, but they weren't far behind. Even the top families in the provincial capital wouldn't dare wipe them out!"

"I'm in a good mood today, which is why I've humored you this long. Now, get lost!" Yang Chen suddenly commanded.

"You don't even know who wants this villa, and you're refusing outright?" Wei Xiang said furiously.

"You have ten breaths to leave. Otherwise, stay here forever!"

A chilling aura erupted from Yang Chen.

If Qin Xi hadn't been present, Wei Xiang's trespass alone would have been grounds for Yang Chen to kill him.

Wei Xiang's face darkened. In all his years, no one had ever dared hit him or threaten him—Yang Chen was the first.

"Since you refuse to sell, let's see how long you can keep up this arrogance when that person comes knocking."

With that, Wei Xiang turned and got into his car.

After he and his men left, Senba spoke up. "Brother Chen, you just let them go like that?"

"What else should I have done?" Yang Chen asked, puzzled.

"At least find out who exactly wants this villa. Doesn't your country have an old saying—'Know yourself and your enemy, and you'll never be defeated'? Right now, we don't even know who the enemy is. We're at a disadvantage."

Senba's Mandarin was excellent, and he occasionally even quoted ancient proverbs.

Yang Chen suddenly laughed, an unshakable arrogance radiating from him. "In this world, how many are truly worthy of being called my enemies?"

Feeling Yang Chen's overwhelming confidence, Senba was momentarily stunned before realizing—Yang Chen simply didn't consider the person Wei Xiang mentioned a threat.

"Yang Chen, are you okay?"

Once Wei Xiang's group had left, Qin Xi and Qin Yi hurried over.

Yang Chen smiled gently. "Don't worry. Why wouldn't I be?"

Then, turning to Qin Yi, he asked, "How's the new place? Picked out your room yet?"

"Brother-in-law, you've been way too modest! With a villa this amazing, you still put up with living in that old house with us."

Qin Yi's earlier unease vanished as she gushed excitedly, "I always said it—marrying you was the best thing that ever happened to my sister!"

Qin Xi subtly nudged her sister's hand off Yang Chen's arm, pretending to scold her. "Bigger houses aren't necessarily better. Think of how much cleaning it'll take every day."

Yang Chen noticed her small gesture and found it amusing—Qin Xi was even jealous of her own sister.

Qin Yi, oblivious, continued animatedly, "Sis, that's nothing! Once I get my paycheck next month, I'll hire a maid—consider it rent for Brother-in-law. You won't charge me extra, right?"

"Of course not!" Yang Chen chuckled.

Meanwhile, Wei Xiang, who had just left Cloud Peak Summit, made a call and said cautiously, "Young Master Meng, my apologies. I failed in the task you assigned me. I await your punishment!"
