Jax looked stunned.
"You added a Spell Slot to my axe?" he asked, unable to believe what he was seeing. This was the first time he had seen a spell slot in any equipment other than the axe he had received from the dead-not-dead man.
"I did," she said, crossing her arms before her chest with some pride. "Are you ready to apologize?"
Jax turned. "Ap— yes, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that. It was my bad."
Mel smirked. "Good. Now, try it out. See how well your axe works."
Jax looked at the axe and nodded. He brought out the one Spell Stone he had and attached it to the axe. The moment he brought it close to the Spell Slot, the Spell Stone snapped into place like metal to a magnet.
A jolt of electric tingle passed through Jax's body the moment it happened, and the axe cried out in a low resonance. The hum lasted for a few seconds.
"Wow! I didn't expect it to—"
