"I feel closer to you," Zach admitted solemnly, patting the smooth, now-browless space above his right eye.
Ava squinted at him, unimpressed. "Is that closeness I'm feeling, or secondhand embarrassment?"
He sighed dramatically, hand still hovering over his eyebrow-less abyss. "This… was a sacrifice for beauty."
"That was a wax strip possessed by a demon," she deadpanned, then motioned vaguely at the bathroom. "And we'd rather not go in there. Too many traumas."
"Huh?" Zach blinked. "Why not? We could be real married couples already. We even kissed like it's real."
Ava cringed so hard her neck nearly disappeared into her shoulders. She stared down at the lone, flailing cucumber slice that had tragically slipped from her eye and now twitched like a dying fish on the tile.
"I'd rather eat that than entertain whatever nonsense you're spitting right now."
