At night, a bright moon hung askew in the sky, its light obscuring the stars, leaving only a few visible.

The arrival of the merchant ship was a monthly festive occasion for the materially impoverished Mermaid Village, which had little entertainment.

Not particularly hospitable, but the simple and honest merfolk held a bonfire party, and the sailors who had come from afar put their arms around each other's shoulders on the lakeside square, singing and dancing.

The wind blew from the lake, carrying a hint of moisture.

Amon, dressed as a clown, rode a unicycle with a wine barrel on his head, circling the bonfire, drawing a round of applause.

Hai Yun used the fin on one side of her huge fishtail to perform a mermaid version of 'Golden Rooster Stands on One Leg.' Amidst the cheers of her people, she smiled exceptionally happily, revealing two rows of white, pointed teeth.

"Adam, come and play too. Don't always be like a block of wood," she called to 'Adam,' who was sitting in an inconspicuous spot in the crowd.

'Adam' smiled and said, "I'm fine. You guys have fun."

Hai Yun and another mermaid girl then danced a 'Mermaid Dance' in the middle of the crowd.

The girl's beautiful face held a bright smile, her graceful body glowed faintly in the firelight, her dance was enchanting, and her eyes sparkled with brilliance.

After the dance, Hai Yun sat down next to 'Adam' and said:

"Tell me about the things in your human kingdom. I've long wanted to go for a walk, but Grandpa won't let me, saying we belong to the sea… A fish out of water will die."

Before 'Adam' could answer, she said with waning interest:

"Forget it, never mind. The more I know, the more I'll want to go and see, and curiosity killed the beaver."

She gazed at the shimmering lake, somewhat lost in thought.

'Adam' said in a calm tone:

"The sea has the beauty of the sea, and the land has the splendor of the land. If you want to set foot in a domain that doesn't belong to you, you must be prepared to lose everything. Just as for us, every ocean voyage is an adventure with life as the stake."

Hai Yun raised an eyebrow and grinned. "Since it's life-threatening, why do you come to this island far from the mainland time and time again?"

'Adam's' expression remained unchanged, his face still bearing a warm smile: "For profit."

Time passed, and the crowd gradually dispersed. The sailors returned to the sailboat one by one, discussing which mermaid girl was more beautiful.

No one voted for Hai Yun; their preferences hadn't warped to such strange places.

In the sailors' eyes, Hai Yun, whose upper body also had many scales in addition to her tail, looked more like a fish than a person.

Of course, with the exception of certain Amons with unique aesthetics.

Hai Yun staggered home with a bit of drunkenness, having drunk half a glass of wine.

The merfolk left only four members of the guard team by the merchant ship as basic surveillance, to prevent the sailors from entering prohibited areas.

In the dead of night, 'Adam' walked onto the deck, looking at the four guards not far away, his eyes without the slightest fluctuation.

Four worms with twelve rings and starlight slowly crawled behind the guards.

Silently, several Amons seemed to grow out of the ground, twisting into shape.

They unanimously covered the guards' mouths from behind and cut their throats with daggers made of soul power.

Streams of light fell from 'Adam's' body, transforming into Amons wearing classical robes and pointed soft hats.

"Everyone, the operation begins."

After leaving these words, 'Adam' took out a monocle, put it on his right eye, and ran towards the altar in the center of the lake, stepping on pieces of soul power.

The Amons scattered and went to all parts of the village.

They didn't act immediately, uniformly concealing their presence, waiting for the opportunity.

'Adam' came to the square pyramid in the center of the lake, climbed the steps, and stopped in front of the statue at the top.

The heroic and enormous Sea God statue gave a faint sense of oppression, and a magnificent sea-blue pearl was enshrined on the table in front of it.

"Who's there?" Two harpoons came from the darkness.

'Adam' used soul power to condense a shield on the left and right to block the attack.

"Hmph, you outsiders really have bad intentions." Two mermaids, one on the left and one on the right, walked out from behind the stone pillars on either side. They were burly, tall, and exuded soul power fluctuations.

Two Soul Ancestor-level mermaids!

'Adam' didn't entangle with them. Two streams of light flew out of his body, transforming into two Amons, who met their respective opponents.

He himself took a few steps forward, grabbed the blue orb, and then turned around and ran.

One of the mermaids blew the whistle hanging around his neck, the sharp, piercing sound mixed with soul power fluctuations spreading outward.

At the same time, 'Adam' also used mental connection to notify the Amons scattered in the village to take action.

Hai Yun suddenly opened her eyes and quickly jumped out of the oval pool-like 'bed,' bringing up a large splash of water: "The Pearl of the Sea! Who's so bold?"

"Boom!" A violent fire soared into the sky. The warehouse in the village where fish oil was stored was set on fire, and the flames continued to burn.

The blazing flames lit up the sky.

Hai Yun saw strange people wearing pointed soft hats, chasing and killing villagers with daggers.

Their strength had astonishingly reached the Soul Master level! And probably at level 40!

Hai Yun casually slapped two Amons to death, discovering that they looked exactly the same, and their facial features were somewhat familiar.

She hesitated, not knowing whether to clear out the strange people in the village first or to protect the 'Pearl of the Sea.'

"Hai Yun, leave this to me, you go to the altar!"

An old male merman shouted, powerful soul power fluctuations surging around him.

Someone in the village needed to take charge of the overall situation and stabilize it. Although Hai Yun's strength was good, she was still young… With this in mind, the mermaid patriarch made this decision.

"Yes, Grandpa." Hai Yun immediately jumped into the river and swam towards the lake in the center of the island, with several mermaid guards following behind her.

On the way to the central lake, Hai Yun suddenly remembered that the strange people looked exactly like the sailor who rode the unicycle at the bonfire party before.

Her eyes flashed fiercely, her expression becoming ferocious, and she ordered: "You, kill all the people on the merchant ship!"

"Yes." The mermaid guards' expressions were fierce, their eyes filled with coldness.

Before long, they arrived at the merchant ship.

Although they were somewhat puzzled that these sailors, who were snoring and looked dazed at their arrival, didn't seem to be involved in the attack, whether the sailors were innocent was not their concern.

The mermaid guards faithfully carried out Hai Yun's orders, killing them one by one. The hatred for humans in their hearts made them feel a bit of satisfaction in this behavior.

When Hai Yun arrived at the altar in the center of the lake, she saw her two clansmen lying on the ground, killed by two identical strange men wearing monocles.

"Damn it!" She soared out of the water like an arrow, directly leaping onto the altar, and said with undisguised anger:

"Who exactly are you? What is your purpose? Quickly hand over the 'Pearl of the Sea'!"

"Tsk, how scary~" An Amon drawled.

He adjusted his monocle, a playful smile on his face. "Purpose? You guess."
