Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Kidnapped

In his final moments, he felt—

That quiet, primal fear…

Death.

A concept most mortals dread.

Yet, in many ways, it offers something else.

Peace.

Even to those who had long forgotten they were searching for it.

The shimmering shards drifted along with the wind, carrying with them a strange blend of sorrow and serenity.

Brief flashes of memory flickered: A family, a life once warmed. Stolen. A monster was created..

Once human, he turned into something he never asked to become.

A Demon.

Fenrir placed a hand over his chest.

I see…

What a tragic story.

In the end, I granted what he desired… death. A chance to be with his family again.

He may have been the god of chaos, but he wasn't evil. He walked the line between knowing when to show compassion and when to be ruthless.

Something his master, Phane, had taught him.

At first, he didn't understand it. Why would he? Back then, he still thought like a human.

But then came his first mission: to destroy a species deemed too dangerous for humanity's future.

And in doing so, he cleared a path—one that allowed mankind to grow.

That was his role. To destroy, to be ruthless, so that Naberius could create.

Together, they maintained a balance.

Through that purpose, he found the meaning he had once longed for.

But today, he chose compassion—even if it was only because he saw a glimpse of his sister in her.

And despite everything, he had no intention of abandoning the child.

As for the demon victims, there was no saving them, they were long dead, their souls already departed for the afterlife.

Heaven, if you want to call it that.

He glanced at the small, fragile girl.

She would carry the weight of this night for the rest of her life. The trauma clung to her like a shadow.

A perfect opportunity for someone like him to twist tragedy into fuel, to plant the seed of strength born from helplessness.

It started as just an idea, but he grinned—why pass up the chance to train an apprentice of his own?

Yes, it was perfect. He'd been bored lately, and this would finally give him something to do.

With a low whistle, Fenrir summoned a pack of wolves from the depths of the forest.

They emerged silently, their eyes glowing with quiet understanding. Without hesitation, they moved with solemn grace, gently burying the bodies.

As they finished their task, they wagged their tails and looked up at him, eager for praise.

He smiled at the sight of the wolves, even if not his creation, were truly the finest of creatures.

Loyal to the end.

Truly, the best companions humankind ever had.

"You've done well," he said with a nod. "As thanks for aiding me, I grant your bloodline a blessing."

On a whim—not out of favoritism, of course, and partly to test how far he could bend this world's rules—Fenrir cast his power over them. A soft glow enveloped the wolves as their bodies grew larger and stronger.

As I thought, this world is weaker than Teyvat. It makes me wonder just how powerful his world truly is. The only way to find out is to go there myself.

He glanced back at the wolves and gave a small nod, dismissing them into the forest.

"One command before you go," he said calmly. "If you scent any demons, kill them on sight. With my blessing, your bite should be more than enough to finish them."

Now that's settled, he should send the child somewhere safe from harm, and the best place was no other than his home.

With a swift motion of his hand, he opened a gate—tossing the girl through it.

"Hopefully the others don't find out about the human child. If they do, I'll never hear the end of it," he muttered under his breath.

Running his hands through his hair, he grinned with amusement.

"So this world is crawling with demons, huh? Sounds like it's time I had a little fun."

Fenrir vanished in an instant, his body dissolving into a sphere of green energy that streaked across the land at incredible speed heading straight toward the nearest city.

Meanwhile In Fenrir lair.

A small figure could be seen starting their day, quietly dusting the marble floors with a broom. Their little wolf ears twitched, and their tail wagged gently as they hummed a soft tune.

But then the door to the outside swung open, letting a rush of snow and cold wind blow in, scattering across the once-clean floor.

"Ah, Silas! Have you seen Lord Fen?"

Silas's ears twitched, and his tail froze mid-swish as he slowly turned to face a black-suited figure with striking white hair.

"Alfred!" he snapped. "I just cleaned the floor!"

"Do refrain from being so dramatic" Alfred said, stepping inside and with a wave of his hand the door shut close behind him.

"You!" Silas snarled.

From a pocket Of Alfred's chest, his Vision hung neatly, glowing faintly as he raised his hand. A gentle warmth spread through the room, melting the snow into harmless puddles of water.

Silas gritted his teeth. Now I have to mop!

"For my visit, I'm here to deliver a message to Lord Fen."

Silas let out a sigh, his frustration slowly fading. "He's not here. Probably off gallivanting through another world again."

"I see… well, I suppose it can wait—"

A sudden swirl of energy signaled the opening of a gate. From it, a small girl was gently flung through, landing on the couch, still fast asleep as if nothing had happened.

Silas sprang into a mild state of alarm.

"A human girl!! Do you understand how bad this looks?"

Alfred remained composed. "Calm yourself. It's clear lord fen had a purpose. He wouldn't send a human child here on a mere whim."

Silas, still agitated, replied, "A whim? He kidnapped a child. If the other lords find out, Master will surely face severe punishment."

"And as his familiars, it is our duty to serve him. That includes taking care of the young girl and waiting for our lord's arrival."

"What about the other lords?"

"We say nothing. And if they come for a visit, we simply lie and hide the girl."

Before Silas could respond, he noticed the small child slowly rising, rubbing her eyes. She looked around, her gaze eventually locking onto them.

She stood there for a moment, but then, a wave of emotion overtook her sorrow, grief as she began to cry.

"Mommy, Daddy, Brother… they're all gone," she said, her voice trembling with the weight of her loss.
