By the time I had finished checking my new form, the entire forest was already shrouded in darkness. Without sparing a single thought, I once again climbed the trees as the once silent forest was now echoing with the sound of insects and serpentine beasts.
'It seems that the residents of this forest are nocturnal'.
I too started travelling from tree to tree in search of prey. After travelling in a certain direction for half an hour, I was greeted with the sight of a battle between a snake and a mongoose. 'Wow! To think I'll get the chance to view the battle within the two natural enemies from VIP seat'
'They truly are monsters' I thought after clearly viewing the two creatures. The mongoose was as large as a dog with blue fur and jaws covered in crimson.
On the other hand, the snake was 150 cm long wih green scales covering its body. It had a
black horn on its head with a purple blade like stinger attached to its tail.
Whenever the snake tried to bite
the mongoose or stab it with its horn or stinger, the mongoose would rapidly react and dodge out of harm's way. The snake did manage to land a deep hit near it's heart, but it only happened once. Whenever the mongoose saw an opportunity, it would swipe it's claws at its mortal enemy. This skirmish continued for nearly 10 minutes before the mongoose won the battle.
The snake lay still on the floor covered in crimson but still alive. As the half dead mongoose was going for the kill,
I saw something....an OPPORTUNITY!
Without waiting a moment, I used [Leap] to jump off the branch of the trees I was hiding at and used [Claw Strike] to struck the head of the mongoose which was standing proudly on the somehow still alive but fully battered body of its enemy.
The moment I used my skills, I felt as if something warm entered my claws aswell as my feet, but this sensation was accompanied by a feeling of light headed-ness.
But upon touching the head of my enemy, my claws sliched through it as if it was a hot knife in butter. This scene was accompanied by a bunch of system notifications.

The mongoose was followed by its foe to the afterlife.

'May you have never ending glorious battles even in the afterlife. My enemies who lost to me in a totally fair and honest fight.' Only after finishing the sincere prayer for my foes did I let my impure thoughts wash over me. 'WOOOHHU! BABY! level 4 on the first day!'
After enjoying the feeling of happiness after what felt like a millenium, I dragged the two corpses with me on the branches of the trees and without a moment's hesitation, I started devouring them. I started with the mongoose's corpse because I had suspicions that the snake was poisonous. After eating half of the corpse, I was amazed to find a cloudy white orb of diameter 7 cm in its chest. I put the orb aside and finished my current job. After inspecting the snake's body for a minute I found a slightly smaller purple coloured orb in its head. I left this one in the company of its kind.
'Do I have a core too? Aah, just let it be. I'm sure I'll find about it letter.'
Now with stars twinkling in my eyes, I said the magic words.
