The next day, at the first hour of the day, Leo enters the guild building, going straight to the counter.
"What can I help you with, sir?"
"I was signed for a tamer test, I want to know if I can do it now."
"May I ask your name?"
"Leo."
"Let's see. Yes, you were signed for the test, with two blue haired wolfs. Everything's right?"
"Yes."
"Ok then, you will need to get to the stable. The examiner will be there in half an hour. Have a nice day."
"Thanks."
Leo leaves the counter, exiting the building and going to the stable. Inside there were many cages with different beasts, most being babies. A few of them growled at him as he passed by. After the half an hour, a man on the older side with a cane in his left hand appeared.
"Are you the examinee boy?" asked the man in a loud voice.
"Yes." said Leo.
"Speak up boy! I can't hear you." yelled the old man.
"Yes!"
"You came with two blue haired wolfs, right? Follow me, we will get them outside and see if you have what it takes to tame them!"
The old man takes off, walking far in the back of the stables. There, at the end, were the two pups in a cage on wheels.
"Get behind the cage and start pushing, we will take them outside."
Leo starts pushing the cage following the man outside at the same arena he was tested at. He stops in the middle, making a sign to stop.
"Are you ready?"
"What are we testing for?
"You were told nothing? Beasts follow people with a special aura to them, an aura that puts fear in them, a fear that makes them obey you. If you can make them do anything you tell them to do then you will get your permit."
"I understand. I am ready."
"Stay away from the cage. Give them some space or they might bite your ancles." said the old man followed by a raspy laugh.
The old man gets close to the cage opening it. The two pups stay inside far from the door.
"They are the shy type, try to order them to move."
Leo stands still looking in their eyes for a long moment. The pups starting to tremble. The old man looking unphased.
"Move." said Leo calmly.
The pups waited for a second before one of them took a step and then another exiting the cage, followed by his brother.
"Seams like you have at least some of that aura. Try to get them to do some other things."
"Should I make them sit."
"What did you say, I don't hear you. Just make them do something."
Leo takes a knee to the ground, looking at the pups.
"Come." said Leo, the pups getting closer to him, although hesitating. "Sit." followed Leo and they followed, sitting on the ground with their heads low.
"This should do it." said the old man while looking at the wolfs, following with "Get in the cage." as an order to them.
The pups starting to tremble did as they were told, the man closing the door behind them.
"Get to pushing boy, we are going to get them back to the stables."
Leo got behind the cage, once more, starting to push it.
"Do you have any questions boy?"
"Why was the test so easy?"
"The test is a formality that I enforced to the guild master. In most guilds all you need is a beast and a magic contract, you will need to get one too if you want to take the pups."
"Why did you do that?"
"I've seen to many poor beasts that were taken from their family just to be killed because their stupid *tamer* was hurt by them, they were never made to be a tamer and that's why they couldn't control them. This way the beasts will not be killed because of human stupidity and it's not like the guild master can do anything about my antics." responded the old man with a raspy laugh.
"Then why are they all in cages? Isn't it bad for them?"
"Because humans will kill anything they are scared of. If one of the beasts gets loss and gets in the middle of the city they will be killed by guards. This way they will be safe from humans. I just want them to be safe." the old man stops in front of the empty space where the cage was once at. "Push them back here. I will tell the higher ups that you've passed and they will get you a contract with this pups, if you have any questions on how to train them you can find trainers around the stables."
"What is your name, sir?"
"Why do you ask?" asked the man confused.
"You seam like a good person."
"What makes you think this?"
"You try to protect the beasts, that is something that few humans do.
The old man stayed in silence for a few seconds before sighing and yelling.
"You can call me Anlo, an ex grade 5 adventurer. What is your name and grade boy?"
"I am Leo, grade 3 adventurer."
"Good, I hope to hear that name again from the bards. Strive to become great boy!" said Anlo while walking away.
