At the last moment before his death, Dan Kato pleaded with Uchiha Shin.
"I'm sorry about the assassination. I have a niece who wants you..."
Uchiha Shin stared at him coldly, manipulating the skeletal construct surrounding him to crush Dan's lingering spirit into nothingness.
"Pathetic. You're dying, and this is your last request?"
Shin didn't care for the man's final words, but the mention of a niece sparked a faint recollection.
"Dan Kato's niece.. . Shizune Kato.
I can take care of her. Maybe even elevate your bloodline to something worthy in the future."
Uchiha Shin glanced at the lifeless body, sighed, and activated the black flames of Amaterasu from his right eye, incinerating Dan Kato completely.
He was only a Jonin, after all, but devouring his chakra and vitality brought an unexpected benefit.
"The Spirit Transformation Technique?"
A forbidden jutsu tied to the soul itself, something Dan Kato had mastered.
Shin had already entertained the idea of stealing the technique the moment he saw it in action.
Like the Flying Thunder God, it required immense talent to learn.
But after absorbing Kato's life force, the foundational knowledge had already rooted itself in his mind, saving him years of effort.
There was no time to experiment. A more pressing matter awaited him on the battlefield.
Uchiha Toyama stood at the center of the devastation wrought by Shin's Tailed Beast Rasenshuriken. He looked miserable.
Had it not been for Dan Kato's intervention, he wouldn't even be standing.
Toyama blinked his nearly blind eyes, scanning the battlefield with hazy vision.
Then he started laughing.
"Hahaha! Hahahaha!!"
Blood dribbled down his lips as his laughter echoed through the ruined land.
His body was breaking down, the overuse of his Mangekyō Sharingan draining him to the brink of death.
But none of that mattered.
To him, he had won.
Shin was dead, and his son would inherit everything.
Even if he perished, Uchiha Fugaku would rise in his place, securing control over the entire clan.
His laughter lasted only a few seconds before Shin arrived at the epicenter of the crater.
Looking at the deranged Uchiha Toyama grinning to himself, Shin frowned, question marks practically forming over his head.
"Is this guy stupid? Delirious? What the hell is he laughing about?"
Regardless, Shin didn't hesitate to act.
In a blur of motion, he appeared in front of Toyama.
His right hand shot forward like a blade, seizing Toyama's throat.
The weakened man was utterly helpless, no better than a newborn bird.
Toyama's unfocused eyes widened in horror.
"Impossible... Impossible!! You're dead! You should be dead!!"
He kept muttering frantically, his expression growing wilder with each passing second.
His voice was soon cut off—literally.
With a swift motion, Shin ripped his head clean off with his bare hands.
Holding the severed head, he examined the blood-drenched Mangekyō Sharingan with an indifferent gaze.
"Faded... Grayish-white... Completely overused."
The deterioration was obvious. But there was another way to make use of it.
"I wonder... If I force Uchiha Fugaku to awaken his Mangekyō and then transplant these eyes into him, can I harvest the entire Eternal Mangekyō for myself?"
The surest path to the Eternal Mangekyō was transplanting another Mangekyō Sharingan. The closer the blood relation, the higher the compatibility.
Shin had no living relatives. The best alternative was refining his bloodline purity and stealing more pupil power.
He was eager to test the theory. Even if it failed, he would lose nothing.
"This corpse won't go to waste."
He hoisted Toyama's body over his shoulder and casually carried it through the streets of Konoha.
Terrified villagers and shinobi alike could only watch in horror as Shin strode towards the Uchiha compound, dragging the lifeless husk of their former leader behind him.
By the time he arrived, resistance had all but crumbled.
Facing the sheer might of his Mangekyō Sharingan, the remnants of the opposition collapsed to their knees.
The leader of the doves was dead. Their will to fight had died with him.
A desperate cry broke the silence.
"Father!!!"
Uchiha Fugaku wailed, his body trembling with grief and rage.
His Sharingan spun violently, the tomoe shifting as his eyes teetered on the edge of awakening.
"Hmm?"
Shinji, one of Shin's subordinates, raised his hand, preparing to eliminate the young Uchiha before he could evolve.
"Stop."
Shin's voice cut through the air like a blade, halting Shinji in his tracks.
The man turned, confused.
"Xiao Shin, are you seriously letting him awaken the Mangekyō?"
It was a valid question. Based on Shin's past decisiveness, it was uncharacteristic for him to show leniency.
"No."
A slow smile crept onto Shin's lips.
"I just want to experiment."
He grabbed the lifeless body of Toyama and flung it toward Fugaku.
"Father!!"
Fugaku lunged forward, catching the corpse with shaking hands.
"Rebirth Sacrifice."
A snap of his fingers.
Black flames ignited the body, devouring it completely.
Vitality and chakra surged into Shin as Toyama's remains were reduced to cinders in mere seconds.
Fugaku reached out in desperation, but all that was left was a handful of charred ash.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!"
His screams of agony echoed through the compound.
His pupils twisted, morphing into triangular pinwheels.
The Mangekyō Sharingan had awakened.
A towering, skeletal Susanoo of deep violet began forming around him.
Fueled by grief and fury, he broke free from his restraints, ready to lash out.
"Kneel."
A single word.
Before Fugaku could react, Shin stomped down.
His kick shattered the forming Susanoo, crushing Fugaku's head into the dirt.
Blood splattered from his mouth as his knees buckled beneath him, forcing him into a kneeling position.
The entire compound fell silent.
All those present swallowed hard, their awe and fear of Uchiha Shin intensifying.
Even with his newly awakened Mangekyō, Fugaku was utterly powerless before him.
Power bred fear.
But it also bred absolute reverence.
