Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: I won't bother you anymore1

The man's cold gaze landed on her face.

Faye curled her lips into a smile: "And also, I left the property settlement agreement Second Master Warren gave me on the coffee table in your living room.

Thank you for your generosity. Whether it's the Townsend Family or myself, neither will trouble you anymore.

As you wish, I will disappear from your world forever.

Take care."

With her head held high and her small bag slung over her shoulder, Faye Townsend walked away proudly, striving to hold back tears.

It's over.

The Townsend Family was finished. Her marriage was over. She... finally had nothing left.

How wonderful.

Dad was right. Everyone has to pay for the choices they've made.

Since she was the one who made the wrong decisions back then,

there was no place for regret now.

Inside the car, Hunter Warren's dangerous eyes narrowed sharply.

"Holland, drive."

"Second Master, aren't you going to care about Madam?"

"I told you to drive." It was a command.

"Yes, sir."

Holland started the car and drove away.

As the Lexus passed by her, Faye's lips curved into a smile.

Disgrace was hers alone to bear.

Hunter stared at Faye's smiling lips through the rear-view mirror.

His dangerously narrowed eyes flickered.

Pride, huh? The typical spoiled rich girl demeanor, not a single bit missing.

It's the thing he despised the most.

Just how long could her pride last?

She walked nearly three kilometers before finally flagging down a taxi.

Standing at the entrance of the hospital, she hesitated, her thoughts wandering.

Was she really going to abandon this little life?

This was the child she had longed for day and night—a child that belonged to her and him.

If it weren't for him being drunk, she wouldn't even have had the chance to conceive this child.

Was she truly certain she wouldn't regret this?

She took a deep breath and tilted her head to look at the sky.

On the electronic billboard across a distant skyscraper,

an Anchester news flash was proudly displayed before her eyes.

Anchester's business mogul, Second Master Warren, Hunter Warren, successfully finalized his divorce proceedings today.

In one month's time, he will hold a grand wedding to marry his true love, Zenia Yates.

At that moment, her heart finally shattered, tears bursting forth.

She retreated several steps until her back pressed against the hospital wall, her body leaning heavily against it.

At this moment, the only lifeline left for her was this one wall sturdy enough to bear her weight.

Zenia, Zenia... Why... why did it have to be her?

She took another deep breath, her eyes fiercely fixed on the screen where Zenia, with a radiant smile, hooked her arm around Hunter's as they walked into the hotel under the spotlight.

The two occasionally exchanged loving glances.

Those sugary looks stung Faye's eyes.

The day her sophomore year in college ended, when she found out that Hunter was willing to get engaged to her, she dragged Zenia along and went crazy with excitement all day.

"Zenia," Faye had asked, grabbing her hand, "Is Hunter Warren's family really that powerful?"

"Mm, very powerful. The most important thing is, Hunter is super handsome.

You know, just looking at him makes my eyes feel full and satisfied.

If I had to choose between my favorite snacks and Hunter,

I wouldn't hesitate to give up eating.

Ugh... Zenia, I want to keep screaming like this forever.

Today is absolutely the happiest day of my life.

Quick, congratulate me, hurry up and congratulate me."

Zenia smiled at her enviously: "Being engaged to a man like that, you must be overjoyed."

"Congratulations, congratulations, my dear sweetheart."

Ironically, Faye had even planted a forceful kiss on Zenia's cheek.

Back then, all her secrets, her thoughts, even those dreams too embarrassing to share—they were things she could freely tell Zenia.

Remembering this, Faye reached out forcefully and wiped at the corner of her mouth.
