Lorenzo blinked, his senses snapping back. Ashley's reactions baffled him. There were times he thought it would be hard to convince her to do certain things, but she'd agree without a fight. But this time, he suspected it was the thought of her daughter that made her so willing.
He grabbed his newest shirt—now his second favorite, thanks to Ashley agreeing to wear it.
She stepped out of the bathroom a moment later, looking shy and innocent in the oversized blue shirt.
Lorenzo tried not to stare too much as she walked past him and climbed into bed, wrapping herself completely in the duvet—from head to toe.
He shook his head, amused.
"Ashley?"
No response.
"You're not planning to suffocate under there, are you?"
The duvet rustled, and a muffled whisper came through: "Maybe. And whatever you want to tell me better be worth it once I get off this bed."
He chuckled. "Yes ma'am."
