Chapter 183 - Chapter 176 – Late-night Acting Practice

The stage lights got a little dim. It felt like night had come. The whole training place was empty. Except for several members of Zhou Yanzhi's team, the contestants from other teams had already gone back to their rooms to rest. At this moment, Lin Yuan, Tang Tian, Jing Hao, and Yiran were still in the practice room, seizing the time to polish their performance for the next day.

"Do it again." Zhou Yanzhi sat in the audience, holding her chin with one hand and quietly watching the four on the stage. "The most crucial thing in this scene is the emotion. You have the rhythm, but the emotional fluctuations aren't enough."

[Live Comments]

[They're practicing extra late at night. They're so dedicated!]

[Brother Yuan's emotions are right on the mark. You can really feel that sense of pent-up sorrow!]

[Sister Yiran's acting as the shrew is hilarious! I can't wait to see her go on a full-blown rant!]

Lin Yuan stood in the center of the stage, wearing an old windbreaker and playing the professor's son. His gaze fell on the empty spot on the ground, where the prop dog would be tomorrow. He let out a soft sigh, with a hidden sadness. He bent over and reached out, as if to gently stroke the dog's head, but his hand paused in the air and finally retracted feebly.

"You still won't come home with us?" Lin Yuan said in a low voice, his voice slightly hoarse.

"Woof..." There was no real barking of a dog, but Tang Tian stood beside him as if she had really heard a response. She wiped her eye, then slowly walked to Lin Yuan and pulled his sleeve. "Brother, can't we bring it home?"

Lin Yuan remained silent, as if it took all his strength to barely maintain his calm. He knew that if he stayed for one more second, he might not be able to resist crouching down and hugging the dog that was loyally waiting for its master.

"Stop." Zhou Yanzhi frowned. "Lin Yuan, you were too hasty just now. Your emotion is right, but the process from suppression to outburst needs to be smoother. Don't be in such a hurry."

Jing Hao nodded. "Exactly." He rubbed the fake beard on his chin. "You look sad, but you're not showing enough of an inner struggle. As the professor's son, you should take the dog, but you also know it wants to stay. Show that conflict more naturally."

Lin Yuan closed his eyes and adjusted his emotions again.

[The mentor is really amazing. She's so meticulous in her criticism.]

[Jing Hao's fake beard is so funny. It really steals the show.]

Tang Tian also adjusted her state. The tears from just now hadn't completely dried. She took a deep breath and recalled the experience of having a puppy in the past, trying to make her emotions closer to the character.

Yiran stood there with her hands on her hips, looking pushy. "I'm taking this dog. Leave me alone!"

Jing Hao sighed and walked up to Yiran. He said in a low voice, "Your emotion of yelling in the street is right, but it's too scattered. There's no focus. You need to be more targeted, like calling them'stubborn' or something, so that the audience will get angrier when they hear it."

Yiran nodded and squinted her eyes, thinking about the situation of bargaining at the vegetable market with her family a few days ago.

"Do it again." Zhou Yanzhi raised her hand. "Try it again this time. The emotional progression needs to be smooth. Yiran, you need to be more pushy."

The four of them repositioned themselves. In the practice room, now deep into the night, the atmosphere grew thick with tension.

They rehearsed repeatedly until the early morning. When they finally finished satisfactorily, they realized it was almost three o'clock in the morning.

"Okay, that's it for today." Zhou Yanzhi clapped her hands. "Go back and rest. There's still the official competition later."

Lin Yuan raised his head. His eyes felt a bit sore, but his heart was extremely satisfied. Even though the live-streaming camera kept recording their practice, he was now fully absorbed in his role, feeling like he was truly the professor's son.

[Ding! Atypical depression. 40% cured so far.]

[It's nearly daybreak. Are they still up? They're incredibly committed!]

[Tomorrow's show is bound to be amazing. Can't wait!]

==================
