Chapter 318 - Chapter 318: Does Your Conscience Not Hurt?

This was like playing a game, where a top-tier player goes to a lower-ranked match to bully newcomers, only to run into the top player of that rank.

Clearly, he could have cruised through, yet he crashed in the bronze league.

A surge of emotions flooded the Headless Knight's mind, making him feel that life was nothing but this.

Roa shrugged, interrupting the Headless Knight's thoughts of pleading for mercy. His expression remained indifferent as he continued to tighten his grip on the skull.

Roa said, "Well, you might as well die. After all, you can still provide me with some experience points. Let your death nourish me and become a part of my power. That way, your death will have some value."

Before the Headless Knight could respond, a tremendous force crushed the skull along with the armor.

Aqua was about to step forward to cast a purification spell but paused, surprised by Roa's actions.

Aqua shouted at Roa, "Pamela. Roa, you can't kill him like that! He's undead! Even if his skull is crushed, he won't die!"

However, in the next moment, a strange mist rolled in, enveloping the scattered skull fragments and the headless body, quickly disappearing without a trace.

Roa looked at Aqua with curiosity, and she seemed taken aback, not expecting the Headless Knight to vanish so easily.

Aqua awkwardly smiled and stepped back.

Meanwhile, a series of notifications rang in Roa's ears.

You have defeated the Demon Lord's officer, Headless Knight Beldia, and gained a large amount of experience. You will also receive a small amount of temporal power. Your level has increased; you are now level 65. You have gained thirty attribute points and fifteen skill points.

The attribute points were barely useful, and the skill points were plentiful, but without suitable opportunities, Roa planned to find a chance to spend them later.

The Headless Knight wasn't particularly strong, at least not in Roa's eyes. After all, he had already achieved a state of invincibility, akin to a max-level character slaughtering a beginner village's boss, so there was no sense of accomplishment.

However, while Roa felt indifferent, the adventurers in this small town were left wide-eyed in shock.

None of them had ever witnessed such a spectacle, killing a Demon Lord's officer as if he were a mere dog. Everyone looked at Roa with expressions of disbelief.

Darkness stared wide-eyed, somewhat dazed as she looked at the young man standing opposite her.

She knew Roa was powerful, but she never expected him to be this strong.

Even a Demon Lord's officer couldn't last more than a few rounds before dying at Roa's hands.

Kazuma Satou was also in a daze, staring blankly at Roa.

His first thought was how impressive.

Such an overwhelming victory was exactly the kind of battle Kazuma Satou had always longed for!

Then he looked at the young man's appearance: dazzling golden hair, striking features, and an almost unreal handsomeness.

This was the adventure he had always desired!

Yet the reality before him was that he was himself, and the young man was the young man. Looking at the confident demeanor of the other, then glancing at himself, a thick barrier of separation stood between them.

For some reason, Kazuma Satou felt a pang in his nose, a bittersweet emotion welling up inside him.

He had always thought that while the captain was a bit stronger, he was just an ordinary person with an unremarkable appearance and actions, only slightly better in various fields. However, this gap was still visible.

His previous performance was still at an ordinary person's level, but he never expected that, being part of the ordinary crowd, the other would suddenly betray them, even though they were all part of the same group of otaku. Yet, Roa had betrayed the otaku alliance.

Heartbroken, utterly heartbroken!

Why are you so excellent? We are all reincarnators; it's infuriating!

As Kazuma Satou clutched his chest, feeling as if his heart were being cut, he couldn't help but think of the glowing eyes of Megumin and the increasingly heavy breathing of Darkness, intensifying the pain in his heart.

Megumin's admiration and the expression of a lovesick girl were almost overwhelming.

Kazuma Satou felt that if Megumin wanted, she could easily be seen limping out of the young man's room the next morning.

Damn it, was this your plan?

In an instant, Kazuma Satou thought of many things, but when he saw the young man's unchanged expression, he temporarily suppressed these chaotic thoughts.

The young man remained expressionless as he walked up to the crowd. Just as everyone wondered what Roa intended to do, he calmly stated, "The rewards for defeating the Demon Lord's officer will all go to me, is that alright?"

Kazuma Satou was still somewhat dazed, still immersed in the sadness of being backstabbed by Roa. For a moment, he couldn't react, as who could have imagined that the first thing the young man would say upon returning from defeating a Demon Lord's officer was about distributing rewards?

Kazuma Satou was slow to respond, but Aqua quickly caught on.

Aqua walked up to Roa and naturally wrapped her arm around his. Roa tried to pull away, feeling somewhat disgusted, but unfortunately, her soft chest forced him to remain bound to her.

After a few token struggles, Roa allowed Aqua to hold him.

Aqua didn't think much of it and said to Roa, "Hey, hey, we all came here from the guild with great difficulty, and I haven't even had a bite to eat before rushing over here."

Aqua presented facts and reasoned, trying to extract some Eris from Roa's pocket.

Roa looked expressionless at the goddess, whose skin was thicker than city walls, and coldly said, "Aqua, when you say it was hard to get here, are you referring to being brought here by me? Moreover, when I called you over, you threw a tantrum. How dare you think you can take a share of my rewards?"

Faced with Aqua's insistence on facts and reasoning, Roa also presented facts and reasoning, directly denying Aqua's claims.

Seeing Roa's firm attitude, Aqua said again, "Roa, although you single-handedly defeated the Demon King's army, how can you hoard so much money for yourself? Doesn't your conscience hurt?"
