Chapter 77 - Like a Fool

Early the next morning, Liam personally drove Ava to James Lee's restoration studio.

After getting out of the car, he took her hand. The two of them walked side by side toward the entrance.

The first light of dawn stretched softly across the city, casting a golden glow that bathed their silhouettes. The warm sun on her skin gave Ava a strange sense of nostalgia—like being walked to school by a parent.

Inside, James Lee stood near the window, amused as he fed a painted bunting in its cage.

Upon seeing Liam enter, he scoffed lightly."You brat. You knew all along that I was going to be her mentor, didn't you?"

Liam let out a soft chuckle. "She looks a lot like Aunt Quinn when she was younger. You won't regret teaching her."

At the mention of Quinn's name, a flicker of pain flashed across James's face. He paused and gave Liam a sideways glance."You really know where to hit a man."
