Anne and Audrey finally came out of the spa after spending hours grooming themselves.
"Let's go check the party venue," Anne said.
Audrey grinned from ear to ear, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I am so excited. Let's go."
The afternoon sun slanted through the tall glass doors as Anne and Audrey stepped into the sprawling party venue. Staff members in black T-shirts embroidered with the event company's logo moved with purpose — some arranging centerpieces, others stringing fairy lights along the ceiling beams.
The scent of fresh lilies and orchids mingled with the faint smell of paint and polish as finishing touches were made. Rolls of satin fabric trailed across the polished floor, and crates filled with champagne flutes were being carefully unpacked near the bar.
