All I could say was…
[ Yes, you are right. ]
What kind of science I am talking about when I, myself, was born from divine powers. The food problem was solved. I called the two humans and let them cook. For the cooking tools, there were two big iron pots.
But there was still a problem. They don't know how to cook these tubers except potatoes. It gave me a headache because their potato recipes included meat, and there was only a small piece of meat. I let them cook the potatoes with this piece of meat.
[ Veronica, it's your time to shine. There must be recipes in your data. ]
[ It did. But you don't have butter, onions, garlic and cheese to follow these recipes…]
[ Give me the simplest ones. ]
[ Simplest ones? Sure. For yam or sweet potato, just wash and throw them into the pot to boil. Or bake them… After they are boiled or cooked, strip them clean, pour some oil drops, sprinkle some salt and eat… Simple, right…]
Don't tell me…
It was quite simple. I instructed the two humans to wash and boil the sweet potatoes. I did have onions, garlic, ginger and tomatoes in my stock however they are not for eating but to reproduce more. They were growing fast in the small world.
[ Master, you need to build your kingdom from scratch. In this magic world, you need to improve everything with your own hands. Food, agriculture and transportation are the priorities. Your proud art and entertainment come last….]
[ I know. Mages and nobles don't bother to invent daily necessities as they have magic to solve their needs. The food varieties are also few. Who has the leisure to improve dishes when they don't have access to more ingredients? Take this cursed forest as an example…. they said the cursed forest is barren. But you see, they just don't know how to find food. ]
This forest was also weird. I searched around the area we were in and I saw that most of the plants were tubers. The towering trees around us were not edible, without even flowers or fruits. No wonder, people called it barren.
I set aside some seedlings to plant them in my small world. The small world was only about the size of the Capital city but it was still large enough for us.
The dinner was not very enjoyable. There were not enough plates for all of us. We enlarged and thickened the leaves with magic to meet the needs. A bowl of thick potato soup and some baked sweet potatoes filled our stomach. Food improvement must be our priority, I decided.
After dinner, the children sat around my makeshift throne. They were waiting for me to tell the story of my king father. When they heard it was the story session, the human children couldn't walk away. They also sat near us.
"You want to hear about your grandfather nearly falling because he underestimated some weak fellows, right?"
The children's eyes were bright. Who didn't like the stories of the weak defeating the strong and face slapping routines? I liked it too. But this one was not like this. It involved more, just like how despicable a king could be when he faced the rivals of his throne.
"It's because of his inheritance. The throne of the Kingdom of God is not inherited by the king's offspring. The king had to abdicate when someone who had more merits than him appeared in the mortal world…."
The elves were calm as they didn't integrate the common sense of this magic world in their heart. However, humans were puzzled. Can't understand why it was like this…. In their life, the throne belongs to the Royal bloodlines.
When I said my dad had a throne which became hot and hard whenever a problem arises for my dad, their jaws dropped hard, enough to stuff an egg. His throne had a very soft and cloud-like cushion. It was so soft that when he sat, his waist was submerged in the soft cushion.
The first time his cushion became hard, he didn't look down at the mortal world immediately. He was watching the fairies dancing and singing at this time. Only after the dance ended did he look down and saw an old man with loads of merits. It was the successor of his throne, appeared when he was playing happily and forgot to do good deeds because he didn't believe mortals could collect more merits than him.
In a few breaths, when the old man died, his throne would be lost, for sure. He was very flustered and got down to the mortal world, seducing the old man with anything possible such as women, fortune and fame.
However, the old man had seen too much in his long life and couldn't be seduced. So, he changed his strategy and prolonged the old man's life. Then, he made the old man do more good deeds and lift the merit higher and higher. After all the fuss, he succeeded in pushing the old man to the upper realm. Even if the old man's achievement was higher than his, his throne was safe.
There came the second time… He took notice faster than last time. This time it was a young monk who would succeed him. The monk's merit was already higher than him at a young age. Even though he wanted to push the monk like the old man, he couldn't because the young monk was in a deep forest, away from hustle and bustle.
This young monk was always in mediation not interested in women, fame and fortune that the King of God gave him. The game changed after one of the princesses volunteered to seduce the monk into the secular world.
The young monk didn't have interest in mortal women but couldn't stand the seduction of the princess of the Kingdom of God. The monk got the goddess and the king of god retained his throne. It's a win-win situation, of course, except for the princess, my own sister. Actually, it was not a big deal for her too because 50 years in the mortal world is equal to 1 day in the Kingdom of God.
She spent 1 and a half days with a monk who returned to the secular world in the mortal world. After she came back, she was still the princess of the Kingdom of God. They were my family members but I wouldn't beautify them. It's not that I was naive because I didn't know conspiracy and intrigue, I knew it all but I don't care.
Okay, I admit. The loser was the young monk. He would get the same treatment as my dad if he were to be ascended. Let alone a princess, he would get a harem full of beauties assigned by Heaven, over 50000, like my dad. Even though he said 'no', he couldn't reject them just because these positions were assigned by Heaven. Mama became the Queen of God because her status was sufficient.
The gods won't sweat and won't get tired. They had to eat nectar in a fixed time or else they could die. When they exhausted their merits, they would sweat, feeling tired and the flowers they wore wilted. These were signs of death for god's. They could prolong their life by getting more merits in time.
Everyone was fascinated by the tale I told. This world also had gods representing certain elements. They were immortal as long as they had believers. In return, they could be killed if the strength is sufficient. They could be strengthened or weakened with the power of faith.
The immortal gods whose strength fluctuate and could be killed Vs the gods with life span but couldn't be killed ... .made the children yearn for it. The children had sweet and exciting dreams that night.
In the morning….
As the head of the family, it was still my turn to get a headache. The relocation of the human children was undecided. To train the decision making skills of the elves, I called a meeting with the children. In fact, I just don't want to tire myself out by solely making decisions. They are my children, they should share my burdens.
"So… What do you think? With our numbers, we can't send them back. What if we leave them here? They can go back by themselves when they grow up. Of course, we will look after them while they are living here.."
All the children have the potential to become mages. Without the goblins, the two humans are not opponents at all. We need to go deep into the forest. Leaving them here should be a good idea.
When I talked to the human children, I encountered resistance. More than half of them wanted to go with us, the rest just didn't dare to ask.
"Why don't you want to go back to your home immediately?"
"We know that our family can't protect us if we go back. We are from weak mage families .We will be kidnapped again. This time, the security will be tighter because we escaped once. And these three children are orphans. Alfred is sold by his own father."
The older teenagers had clear logic. They didn't have unreasonable demands as they knew we couldn't fulfill them. The three orphans were the smallest amongst the children. Alfred was a boy about 8 years old from the Ice Paradise Empire. He had blue eyes like sapphire and silver white hair. Very cute!!! I wonder what kind of beast could sell this cute doll.
He was very quiet and ate little, restraining himself. His well-behaved behaviour was sad. A boy this age could be well-behaved but should be lively and daring. His etiquette was also good, must be a child of a noble.
"Can you tell me why your dad sold you? You don't need to talk if you don't want to. If you come with us, we need to know you because we will become a family."
"Because….he hates me."
"Why?"
"He said I killed my mother. My mother died because she gave birth to me. He sold me not to see me again in this life. He said I shouldn't exist in the first place."
His voice was small. His eyes didn't meet my eyes. His timid behaviour broke my heart.
"What do you think? Do you think he is right?"
"I don't know…"
"Actually, he is wrong. The one who killed your mother is your father. If he didn't sleep with her, she wouldn't get pregnant. If she didn't get pregnant, she wouldn't need to give birth and wouldn't die. The murderer is your father.."
"Mother, Alfred is still a child.."
With a helpless look, Noah covered his face.
"He already heard cruel words from his father. He needs to know clearly that he is not guilty…"
