Within the southeastern country, there is a bustling city crowded with people, and there, a man whom freshly graduated walking in the crowded streets wondering about his future with a defeated look on his face, for failing to apply for the job.
He bought a drink from a vending machine near the park and sat on the bench, he relaxed his tense shoulders and pondered his current dilemma.
The said man is in a suit, has dark blue ash hair, and azure eyes.
Sigh....
He sighed of the failure of his fifth job application.
"Honestly, I thought graduating would be the end of it all and my life would be full of exciting things after, but then finding a job and doing that job for the rest of my life, comparing it to my life going to school every day as a student was more interesting and fun." -He thought and sighed.
Then suddenly he straightened himself, his eyes wide open when he saw someone being followed he could not believe it, honestly being followed is not so strange compared to who or what is following the said person.
It was a strange door, he noticed the man being followed by the door and looked behind him staring not at the people behind but at the door, and yet he still stayed calm and continued walking like there was nothing there the man being followed knew clearly of what was happening and yet it looked felt he was used to it.
It seemed like only himself and the person being followed was the one that could notice the door, he was in disbelief as he rubbed his eyes and dismissed it as an illusion, thinking that he was seeing things.
But when he looked again, he still saw the strange door following the man as he walked in the dense crowd, and the people only seemed to be passing through the door like it was intangible.
He sat back and relaxed himself, trying to forget what he had just seen.
"Come on Larvan there is just no way that a door would follow someone, and there is just no way a door moves and follows someone, it must have been my exhaustion from finding a job getting to me, there is just no way." -He thought to himself.
Larvan then rested his head on the bench looking upward and relaxed, but then he noticed that there was something in the corner of his vision, it looked familiar to him like he'd seen it somewhere, but then the realization came and his eyes wide open, it looked familiar because he just saw it a while ago and had seen it countless times as a means of enter and exit.
Fwip...
Larvan quickly straightened himself again and looked back twisting his body a little, it was the strange door that followed the man he saw before.
"What is this?!" -Larvan thought to himself
Larvan then proceeded to slowly try and touch the door handle of the strange door that suddenly appeared out of nowhere behind the bench in disbelief.
"I wouldn't do that just yet if I were you." -The stranger said.
"!?" -Larvan paused for a moment, then shockingly looked in the direction of the voice.
The person who spoke was dressed in a suit and looked beautiful, with her black hair and heterochromia crystal like eyes.
Mouth open, Larvan shakingly pointed at the door while looking at her.
"Yo-you can see that?! You can see the door?" -He said as he slowly tried to make sense of what was happening.
The person in front of Larvan smiled, looked gently at him, and sat next to Larvan on the bench.
"Yes, of course I can see it, that is why I'm here, mister Larvan." -She said.
"What? why?! why is there suddenly a door here and is it going to follow me just like the person I just saw before? and...." -Larvan, trying his best to remain calm, asked as many questions as he could think of to understand all this that was happening and didn't even bother the fact that she knew his name.
The person next to Larvan just smiled warmly and patiently as she waited for him to calm down, and Larvan noticed this and stopped abruptly.
"Huuu....haaa...." -Larvan breathed in and out to calm himself.
"So umm... May I hear what you have to say? After all, you are here because of this door, right?" -Larvan calmly said as he was eager to hear what this person in front of him had to say.
"Good, I thought it would take longer really, like the others before you." -She said as she was ready to wait longer
"First things first, let me introduce myself, I am the guide we are many yet we are one." -She said, as she bowed a little.
"A guide?" -Larvan asks.
"Yes, a guide to all those that can see the doors and are followed by one, oh, and by the way I am not human." -She said.
"What?!" -Larvan said.
"You see, you, are a candidate, that is what you are called. One who is given a chance to become a Keyholder and travel beyond this world, and the other, the Ever Plains, where people go to achieve their desires. Or you can ignore the door that will be following you for five days and it will disappear with your ability to see it nor any other door like it ever again.
We the guide, are the incarnation of the many doors and are connected hence being individuals yet one and we guide those who see the doors giving them just the amount of information they need to choose, we are given all of your necessary information hence me knowing your name, don't worry we are only given the bare minimum, like your name age date birth and other stuff, once you choose to be normal then all this information about you will also disappear from our stored memory only the conversation we have are whats left." -She explained with a gentle smile.
"What?! Why would I ever go to that, Ever something place? What reason would anybody have to go to that place?" -Larvan asks questioningly.
"Good question." -She said patiently.
"Why would anyone go without any reason? Well, there are plenty of reasons like bringing someone back from the dead, or becoming a god like entity, or maybe being able to fulfill one's dream, is some of the many reasons why someone would go there so." -She said happily.
Larvan was dumbfounded, he couldn't believe what he just heard from her.
"Reviving someone?! That is just something out of a fantasy novel or tales and myths in legends" -Larvan thought to himself as he tried to process everything he just heard.
"Surely that's nonsense, right? Reviving someone? How can anyone do that?" -Larvan said as he waved his hands away.
"I am afraid some did do it, reviving some or fulfilling their wishes, many have done so and many have tried as well after all, there are dangers to achieving one's goal, so being a Keyholder isn't all sunshine, and rainbows after all there are many dangers within the ever plains after all." -She said.
"Ho-how?" -Larvan said in shock.
"I'm afraid I cannot tell you more until you decide for yourself whether to open the door and become a Keyholder, there on the other side of the door will I explain everything you need to know or wait it out for five days and live a normal life as you are now. In the end, the choice is yours mister Larvan." -She said happily
She stood up from the bench, faced Larvan, and bowed then slowly she walked away from him
"See you on the other side if you ever decide to become one that is, sir candidate." -She said happily.
Larvan stared at her figure wanting to stop her and continue to ask all the questions in his head but he couldn't as she slowly blended with the crowd and disappeared, he pondered on what to do with the sudden bombardment of information he just acquired, he stood up threw away the empty drink in the trash can, and decided to go home and think about it later.
.....
Larvan came home ate, and washed up while he continued to process all the information he got, when he was walking home he kept looking at the strange door that followed him, and now he still pondered on what to do.
Sigh...
"What do I do? either to live a normal life and work the rest of my life in an office, or open this strange door and see what is there for me? What hesitating? isn't this what I wanted? something interesting and fun? So why am I hesitating?" -Larvan thought.
Ring!!
Ring!!
Larvan answered the phone without looking at who it was, as he was still lost in thought on what decision he would make.
"Hello?" -Larvan said.
"What!?" -Larvan shockingly said.
