Chapter 44 - CH 44

Enel and Crocodile in Immortal Prison

Inside the Immortal Prison—

"AHHHHH!"

Enel's screams echoed through the chamber.

Crocodile, rubbing his temples, gritted his teeth.

"Shut up, you idiot!"

But Enel didn't stop.

"AHHHHH!"

Crocodile snapped.

"You recovered the moment you got here—so quit screaming, dammit!"

Enel paused.

"Huh? My divine limbs… are back?!"

He flexed his arms and legs—

Then burst into laughter.

"Yeah-hahaha! This god is truly immortal!"

Crocodile stared blankly.

Then, he sighed deeply.

"This is my life now, huh?"

Being stuck in the same prison as this moron was already hell.

Bai Yu, you bastard… I get it! I surrender! Just let me out!

Unfortunately, Bai Yu wasn't listening.

He was too busy searching for a certain angel to kidnap.

The Angels of Skypiea

"So many… angels."

Kaya gazed at the inhabitants of Angel Island, fascinated.

They all had small white wings, though they didn't seem to serve much of a purpose.

Everything here was so new and strange—especially the unique shellfish used for everyday life.

But while some Sky Islanders were welcoming, others ran away in fear.

It was clear they weren't used to outsiders.

The girls didn't mind—they were too busy exploring.

Suddenly—

"Zheng~~!"

A melodic, enchanting sound drifted through the air.

A piano.

Its tune was beautiful yet melancholic, carrying an indescribable charm.

The girls paused, entranced.

Robin listened, then smiled knowingly.

"A beautiful melody… though tinged with sorrow. The person playing it must be… a beautiful woman."

Vivi blinked.

"Sister Robin, how do you know?"

Robin chuckled.

"Just a guess…"

Then, she pointed at Bai Yu.

The girls followed her gaze.

Then—it clicked.

Bai Yu was staring in the direction of the music.

And Bai Yu didn't care about music.

Which meant—

He had found the angel he wanted to take.

Nami grinned mischievously.

"Let's go see, shall we?"

She grabbed Vivi and the others, hopping onto a cloud to fly over.

Bai Yu's Plans for Skypiea

Bai Yu wasn't in a rush to abduct his target.

First, he had to handle the civil unrest.

Ever since Apayado was launched into the White-White Sea by the Knock-Up Stream, the Sky Islanders had claimed it as a holy land.

They renamed it Upper Yard, or the Island of God, and expelled the Shandians, who had once lived there.

For 400 years, the Shandians fought to take back their homeland and ring the Golden Bell, to fulfill their promise to Mont Blanc Noland.

But everything changed when Enel arrived.

The war shifted.

The Shandians stopped fighting the Sky Islanders and instead focused on defeating Enel.

But that was even harder.

Enel's power was overwhelming.

Now, with Enel gone, the Shandians had returned, ready to take back their land.

And the priests—Enel's former enforcers—stood in their way.

On the sidelines, Gan Fall, the former God of Skypiea, stood watching with the Sky Islanders.

The Standoff

"God will return soon!"

The priests glared at the Shandians, trying to intimidate them.

"You should leave while you still can!"

But Weber, the fierce Shandian warrior, ignored them.

Instead, he looked at a small girl beside him.

She was barefoot, carrying a small white bag over her shoulder.

The ten-year-old raised her head and said innocently—

"Brother Weber… I didn't sense him anywhere."

Weber's eyes sharpened.

"As I thought…"

Every time they had attacked before, Enel had responded immediately.

But today, he was silent.

This could only mean one thing—

Something happened to Enel.

The Gifted Child—Aisa

The little girl's name was Aisa.

She was born with incredibly strong Observation Haki.

A rare natural ability—stronger than even most Conqueror's Haki users.

People like her were extremely rare in history.

Like—

Red-Haired Shanks.

Red Earl Ryuma.

Princess Otohime.

They all possessed a special version of Observation Haki.

Abilities that allowed them to—

• Read minds

• Sense emotions

• Influence thoughts

• Convey their will

These gifts were innate, impossible to train, and made them incredibly powerful.

"BOOM!"

Before Weber could order an attack, the sky exploded.

Everyone looked up—

And froze in horror.

Above the White-White Sea, dark clouds gathered.

The air crackled with electricity.

Lightning flashed, illuminating the sky.

"GOD!"

The priests fell to their knees, rejoicing.

"God has returned!"

"You will all perish!"

Weber and his warriors tensed.

Aisa's eyes widened in shock.

"This isn't right…" she murmured.

"He's… not on the island."

A New Ruler

Suddenly—

A voice echoed across the sky.

"You can perceive the entire island… That's an enviable talent. But you're still a bit too young."

Weber's eyes narrowed.

"Who are you?!"

SWOOSH!

A figure appeared on a high platform, overlooking them all.

Bai Yu.

He gazed down at them without emotion.

"Enel is defeated."

"The Island of God is now yours to divide."

Weber and his warriors stiffened.

The Sky Islanders gasped.

Gan Fall froze in shock.

Bai Yu didn't care.

He wasn't interested in Upper Yard.

To him, it was just a tiny island.

"This is my decree."

Bai Yu raised his hand—

And thousands of lightning bolts rained down upon the White-White Sea.

"BOOM!"

Thunder roared.

The sheer power of the display terrified everyone.

Even Weber hesitated.

Then—

SWOOSH!

Bai Yu appeared in front of Aisa.

Weber and the warrior Laki tensed.

Bai Yu smirked.

"I'm taking this girl."

"You have a problem with that?"

A Decision

Weber gritted his teeth, but before he could protest, Laki stepped forward.

She stared at Bai Yu.

"Why?"

"She's just a child."

Bai Yu shrugged.

"Her talent is too valuable to waste here."

Laki fell silent.

She… understood.

She looked at Aisa, then nodded.

"We have no objections."

"Just promise to take care of her."

"And thank you… for this gift."

Weber exhaled sharply.

He didn't like it—

But he wasn't stupid.

Bai Yu wasn't asking for permission.

He was telling them how things were going to be.

"And you."

Bai Yu turned to Gan Fall.

"I'm taking one from Shandia, and I'm taking one from Angel Island."

"If anyone fights again, I'll erase the Island of God completely."

He smirked.

"The Golden Bell—"

"It's time to ring it."
