Chapter 125 - A Strange Scene

Rick and Marco ran wildly across the vast field and soon arrived at the barns at full speed. While running, Rick shouted to Carol, who wasn't too far from their position: "Carol, ask everyone to look for some rags or clothing, quickly!"

When they reached the barns, the place was in chaos. Whether it was horses, pigs, cows, or sheep, all of them were loudly neighing. It's known that animals are more sensitive to fear, and the sound made by the walkers can be very stressful for them.

Rick patted a horse to calm these animals, but he couldn't wait for the others to arrive. Rick and Marco began taking off their clothes, each piece was placed over the horses' heads to try to block out the external sounds.

Many of the guards and survivors had already seen the movements of these two leaders. At first, they wondered what the two were doing. Now, as the animals' voices grew louder, these people also understood instantly and ran toward the barns one by one.

Upon reaching the other side of the prison, when they saw Rick and Marco removing their clothes and covering the animals' ears, none of them had time to think and also began taking off their clothes.

So, when Carol arrived with a group of survivors and rags in their hands, they witnessed a very strange scene. A large group of people and guards had removed their clothes inside the barns next to the animals, and then hugged the animals.

Many stood with somewhat bored expressions, not knowing what to do with the rags in their hands.

"Was it necessary to strip?"

...

Just when everyone in the prison was having some trouble because of the walker horde, Jason and the others were having a quiet dinner.

Merle spat sweet words at Michonne while kindly telling her that her food wasn't good. Michonne ignored Merle as she handed more food to the children. An old man who was taking care of the children thanked Michonne for her kindness.

Jason, on his side, was discussing something quietly with Daryl.

"Tell me what you think." Seeing the others eating happily, Jason whispered to Daryl with a mysterious look.

"It's easier to say than to find it! How do you get a monkey to shoot a gun on your shoulder in the first place?" Daryl was holding a beer bottle and a cigarette. At that moment, he finally managed to smoke one of the cigarettes he had taken earlier, closing his eyes in enjoyment.

Jason glanced at him sideways and said, "Smoking can make you blind! But the lungs suffer the most!"

"Cough* Cough* Cough*"

Jason shook his head as he saw that Daryl couldn't imagine a monkey shooting. Then he walked away from him and sat next to Bob. He looked at the distracted Bob and noticed he was staring at a specific spot. He followed his line of sight and immediately felt somewhat angry at the way these survivors were thinking.

"Ahem!"

Bob, who was staring intently at Sasha in the group, was startled by Jason, and when he saw that face staring at him, the food in his hands nearly fell to the floor. When he looked at Jason, he quickly raised his plate and filled his mouth with food.

Jason felt really strange. Were Daryl and he the only singles in the group? It was tragic, but then he asked, "Have you been attracted to our sniper girl?"

"Ahem, ahem..."

This time it was Bob's turn to choke, he truly choked. He hadn't expected the leader to be so observant. He awkwardly smiled, and Bob put the plate in his hand down.

"Sorry, I shouldn't be doing this."

Jason took his gaze away. He didn't really care about these things and then asked, "What do you want for the future?"

Bob smiled wryly. What plans could he have? He had been living day by day. If it weren't for the luck he had today, he would have gone to visit God much sooner than he realized.

"I don't have much to do. I used to be a military doctor and lived alone. My previous group was wiped out, and to cope with the losses, I started drinking. If it weren't for these people you saved, I wouldn't have been able to survive this life."

As he spoke, Bob looked at the few survivors beside him.

"Then it's a good time to share my dream with you!" Jason planned to get straight to the point. Bob was a full-fledged military man, which could make up for the lack of a good doctor with the necessary knowledge to survive today. This good man's only problem was his alcohol addiction, but it was understandable if they were in his situation.

In the original story, he falls in love with Sasha, he clears up properly, and he was very responsible about quitting alcohol. After hearing Jason's words, Bob became serious and asked, "Please, tell me what you have in mind."

Therefore, Jason told Bob exactly why he had left the settlement and what he planned to do next.

After hearing Jason's words, Bob's expression became serious, he hesitated a bit, and asked, "Sir, why are you telling me this?"

"I want you to join our group. You're a military doctor, so your skills will be required. No one here can perform surgeries as deeply as you can, some of us could serve as your assistants. Of course, that's up to you." Jason smiled slightly as he said these words.

"If you need my help, I'll definitely do it!" Bob's tone became decisive.

After finishing with Bob, Jason parted from the crowd. His first task now was to search for survivor settlements everywhere, and what he often did lately was sit in the car and look at the maps one by one.

Settlements could leave traces. Though the possibility was low, it was better than driving blindly. Once he found one settlement, he was likely to discover other nearby settlements, so he could gradually enrich his own map of resources.

The night passed slowly, whether in the prison or Jason's team, it was a night of insomnia.

...

Early the next morning.

It was past eight in the morning, and Rick was still lying motionless in bed, like many people at that moment inside the prison.

The walker horde had migrated throughout the night, and all the guards, as well as some survivors, had stayed in the animal barns fearing any kind of accident if they went to rest. It wasn't until after four in the morning that the sound of the walkers outside began to decrease.

In fact, the number of walkers wasn't very large, probably just a few thousand, but the walkers' movement was slow, and they would rather not waste ammunition dealing with all those walkers.

If any of them were attracted by the sounds, they would stop and wait until they left.

Looking around the prison where the walker horde passed, it can be said that they passed without causing much damage. Although the wire fence had been twisted in some places, it held up, otherwise, the crops would have been lost.

This was good, which made Rick feel calmer. The most important thing was that the second outer wall, a hundred meters from the wire fences, had already started being built, and when the wall was completed, there would be no fear of a walker horde damaging the crops.

Hershel left the base early in the morning to check the crops outside. Having lost his farm, he had now dedicated all his enthusiasm to the growth of the prison, especially these crops and vegetables.

After ordering Guillermo to quickly rebuild the outer fence, Rick threw himself on the bed and slept until ten in the morning before waking up with some agitation.

Rick washed his face and blinked his tired eyes. He finally realized the hard work Jason had done before. Now that he was the leader of this base, he needed to worry about everything happening and deal with the accidents that occurred.

Sighing, Rick shook his head to dispel the thoughts in his mind. Jason trusted him so much that he entrusted the base to him, so he had to handle this place well! Secretly encouraging himself, Rick pushed the door to open it and walked out of the room.

Shane should be in the same situation, we must do things right for the future of humanity.

"Rick! You're awake!"

"Hello, Captain Rick!"

"Good morning, Captain Grimes!"

Along the way, many survivors greeted him, and Rick also returned the greeting with a slight smile.

Rick went straight to the door. At that moment, the guard at the door was one of the few whom Shane had taught before leaving for another refuge. Rick remembered that this young man was named Bruno Lastra.

After greeting, Rick approached, looked toward the door, and asked, "Has the car that went to pick up the survivors left?"

Bruno nodded when he heard the words, looked at the watch on his wrist, and said, "Well, they left early in the morning after the area was cleared by the scouts, and they'll probably be back very soon."

As soon as Bruno's voice fell, the sound of a motor was heard not far away. Rick recognized the sound of the armored vehicle and knew it was from the base when he heard it. Looking along the door, he saw two armored vehicles heading toward the entrance.

"Open the door!"

From a distance, Sergeant Rayan's shout sounded from the vehicle, and soon the armored vehicle stopped in front of Rick. The rear door opened, and several survivors stepped out of the vehicle.

Seeing the other party step out of the vehicle, he realized that the team was made up of different people. After counting, there were ten people in this group. Although Rick didn't say anything, he was a bit disappointed. Of these ten survivors, only four could help. The others were elderly and children.

After stepping out of the vehicle, a man looked around. His expression showed he was surprised by the facilities here. After a while, he approached Rick and said, "Hello, I want to find Mr. Rick Grimes, the person in charge of this refuge? I have some important news to tell him."

Rick thought it was a coincidence. He hadn't expected the other party to look for him as soon as they stepped out of the vehicle. He also politely extended his hand and said, "Hello, I'm Rick Grimes, and I'm the current leader of this refuge."

"Hello Rick, Commander Jason asked me to bring you a message."
