It had been five whole years since I got reincarnated. Here are a few things I had found out about this new world I lived in:
One: I looked completely different. Crowding my young scalp were multiple strings of quixotic orange hair. That's right. Compared to my old brown-ish hair, I instead held ginger hair. Quite a big difference. My eyes were a completely different shade too. Instead of my emerald-green eyes, I now had deep sapphire-blue eyes.
Two: Where we lived was completely unknown to me at the time. We were housed in a graveyard of snow; a winter wonderland. Nothing but nebulous pale white engulfed our surroundings where I lived with my two new parents. Even after every season cycled by. Nothing but pure white snow, and bare trees.
Three: Technology was completely non-existent. So, for the first five years of my life, where I had nothing to do but stumble around as if I were a clueless hamster, I was bored out of my mind. After all, the one room that held our books was apparently 'restricted', but soon enough, on my 5th birthday I'd understand why.
Four: Magic was indeed real in this world. How did I know? Well, a man, who apparently was an old childhood friend of my farther would come around to our isolated cabin every-so-often, and, while spying on him, I'd see him conjure pure wood out of his hand as if it were nothing. And then. with his other hand he'd burst out a ball of fire. Yeah. Magic was real. It took a lot more getting used to than the whole 'reincarnation' business. This man bared a grey-ish silver hair, and dark green eyes, but, as far as I could tell, he wasn't older than my farther, so silver/grey hair must've been natural in this world.

Now that we are all caught up, it's time we get real. I won't lie when I say I admire these parents of mine. They aren't bad and have there own little quirks. But, I can't even fathom them as my actual parents. I'd watched a few 'reincarnation anime's' in my lifetime, and one thing I thought was strange, was how far they overlook the true hardships of living a new life. I still haven't accepted the fact my old life is over.
--
I don't want to.
--
That being said, I am interested in this whole fantasy magic realm. Too bad I had to die for it. Yet, I had barely even scraped the surface of what this world holds. At least until my fifth birthday. So enough of his climaxing '5th birthday', it's time I told you what actually happened.
After all, ever since then... Things changed. It started with the books. I now had full access to them, as long as I was with my parents. They had sat me down, and read out a few. They are stories of this world. And, for what I can only assume; they were factual.
Lets start with the main 'magic system' of this world. You see, years back, apparently dragons existed. Why? To protect these things called: Mageal Crystals. They held this worlds natural elements (in a crystal form), back then, they used to be huge, loads of them were. For example: Mageal Crystals birthed in hotter climates became fire Mageal Crystals, same could be said for ones that grew in oceans, or caves. Those would be classed as 'water' and 'earth' Mageal Crystals. Still following along? I hope so, because it gets even more confusing.
--
Yet, as these dragons grew old and fell; humans being humans took this opportunity and turned these elemental crystals into profit. Using this method, they managed to utilize these Mageal Crystals, as some sort of magic source. (gaining the word 'magic', from 'Mageal') They carved these crystals into jewels, such as necklaces or bracelets, which, when worn bared the user magic powers from these crystals. They hastily constructed these Mageal Crystals as a way of profit. Major countries took use of the crystals surrounding them, making it illegal to mine them.
--
Such as: if it was a country next to the everlasting ocean, they made the crystals their property in the surrounding area, making it illegal to mine them. They also found utilizing rare wood, they could craft special 'staffs', that, the stronger they were, the more powerful these crystals would be. They also crafted smaller versions of these staffs (wands).
Regular humans could only bare one Mageal Crystal of there choice, yet, with enough training they could increase there internal mana, and be able to wield stronger crystals, maybe even two! (the larger the crystal, the better staff you'd need: bracelet > Necklace > wand > S staff > M staff > L staff). Yet, you'd have to either be a pretty rich guy, or be lucky enough to find materials to craft these staffs/crystals.
--
Yet, there were a few special humans who could be born with 1-4 'engraved elements' within there souls. As far as I'm aware, these humans would have a circular pattern, inked in black on there palm, that represented these kind of 'engraved elements'. But, if you have more than one, these patterns can be on: either palm of your hands, or even the back part of your hand! And, I believe I'm correct when I say my farther's friend (Gerrin) who came over every-so-often was one of these humans! Yet, I believe he only has two engraved elements within him. (fire and earth), hence the wood and fireballs he could produce.
--
Why do these humans have these 'engraved elements' within them? Well turns out, long ago, if a dragon deemed a human worthy, they would gift them the natural powers of a Mageal Crystal. And, if you are lucky enough, if even one of your parents bare an engraved element, there's a chance you could also utilize its powers.
--
Woah, this world is a lot more complicated than I though. But, there is one more special gene a human can posses in this world...
"Now, listen carefully sweety, for this page is the most important of all within this book" Said mother.
"After the dragon's reign began to fade, they only had on choice left... After all, without the dragon's living inside this world... The Mageal Crystals would soon drain of there powers. So, with there few remaining powers, they cursed themselves with immortality, but this wasn't regular immortality. It was the reincarnation kind."
--
H-hey... Wait... What did she say? Reincarnation?
"These dragons soon decided that reincarnation was the best way to keep the magic within this world safe. So, all seven of them decided that, once they die, a mere mortal shall be born in there place, yet, they'll still carry the soul of these dragons."
It isn't like my kind of reincarnation, is it? You're telling me that other people have been transported to this realm other than me? Does that mean... I'm a dragon?! Or more-so the reincarnation of one?
"Some believe that these mortals that bare the souls of the dragon were from another world, yet, these theory's have yet been debunked. As, none of the soul bearer's ever admitted to being from another world."
Phew. I did not want to be some sort of 'dragon god.', or 'soul bearer', as she called them.
"Which... Leads me onto this, my son. I have news. You see, all soul bearers are born with a mark from which dragon's soul they bear when they are born. And, you my son. Was born with that mark. Yet, it has long faded away, only to be awoken when needed the most."
--
Huh? B-but... I thought... Oh god.
"We waited until you were a big boy to tell you this, do you understand?"
Ehhh? Who would tell a five year old this?!? Oh wait. I know why. It's because they are old enough to understand basic knowledge, yet young enough to go through with whatever there parents say.
"A-and... I know how smart you are sweetie... You learnt how to speak and write at a very young age, so I hope you'll understand when I say this: please, let us train your dragon powers, don't you want to be big and strong?"
Aaaaaannnddd there it is. They want to train me so I'll become some brilliant monster hunter... Or hero and earn them tons of cash or what-not. Ugh. At least, I assume. But, I knew... There was no getting out of this one.
"This is a big responsibility as a soul bearer, you must grow strong... Stronger than anyone else. Ok?"
"But... Surely as a soul bearer I'm meant to protect the Mageal Crystals? That is the duty of a drago- I mean soul bearer, is it not?"
Gotcha.
"W-well yes... But the lasting affects from previous soul bearers who provided energy for these crystals can last years upon years."
"B-but... You've told me all about how big these countries are... Wouldn't they come looking for soul bearers like me? To keep the crystals in check so they can earn p-profit?"
Hey, lady, your words not mine.
--
Something wasn't right. I had so many questions about this whole dragon thing... But what I'm most curious about, is what my parents intentions were with me. And why... On that day, out of no where I burst into flames. I was sure that if I found out the answers to my barrage of questions, I'd have a decently good chance of making it back to my past life. Especially now that I know I was a soul bearer/Dragon god.
--
And, hey wait... If a dragon's soul was reincarnated within me... What dragon was I? And also... If the other soul bearers were originally from this world... How come I was different?
