Fact proved that Catlen was correct in assuming that the kraken had a lot of loot to plunder from sinking ships. When they reached the entrance of a relatively hidden underwater cave, she'd thought they had reached a secret passageway or something.
And she couldn't be blamed for thinking that way, because the hole that was naturally etched into the rock under the sea was half her size in diameter. Even she could barely fit into it.
"Master, it's here!"
As it turned out, the kraken, being so big, had no problem squeezing inside at all. Pushing one and two tentacles in first, it quickly and efficiently pushed its entire body into the hole that wasn't even the size of one of its suction cups.
Judging from the speed, it obviously went in and out very often.
Catlen's goosebumps nearly separated her outer skin from the layers underneath. She turned her head and resisted the churning in her stomach.
No, no, she could not insult her generous patron!
Inwardly, she was screaming at the top of her lungs. Why could that thing fit in there?!
But it obviously wasn't the time to have a mental breakdown and question the rules of the game world. For the sake of easing the kraken's emotional burden, she pulled it together and followed into the cave.
The hole was actually the entrance of a tunnel, and it wasn't very long. In just a few seconds of swimming, she was out in a round space large enough to compete with two colosseums put together!
Large, round things had been encrusted into the walls and were glowing. Their light brightened and dimmed according to a pulse, but there were so many of them that it was constantly bright because they weren't pulsing on rhythm.
Catlen gawked at the mountains of gold coins and precious things that had been pushed into a corner of the cave.
Even though the kraken was a sea monster, it was obviously very clean. All the treasures were sorted out and piled up with their own kind. What was blue was blue, what was green was green, and so on.
"Master, please choose!" The kraken generously waved its tentacle at the treasures, and took a step back, looking very much like a parent that was letting its kid run loose in one of those ball pits.
Catlen did not know the meaning of shame when she was poor enough to show her bare face. She quickly went to the pile of gold first and grabbed a sack, stuffing it full of coins.
Then, she chose a few of the precious gems, and finally a few useful artefacts that she could either use or sell for a very high price later.
It was honestly shocking how this kraken had so many artefacts that were probably coveted by the entire world outside. Still, she wasn't greedy and only took two.
Not because she didn't want to rob the kraken, but she couldn't do so with a clear conscience.
"Master, please take some more. Seaweed has no need for these things." The kraken looked at the pile of 'junk' with indifference, as if it really was nothing more than a bunch of useless trinkets to it.
Catlen turned to look at all of the things, which were too many to be described, then turned to look at the kraken. Her mind flashed, and she quickly put on a kind smile.
"Seaweed, would you like to follow your master on an adventure?"
"Ah?" The kraken scratched its head. "Really?"
"Of course." She nodded seriously. "Master has a portable sea world. You can go in there and follow me around, or you can disguise yourself."
She had seen it just then, the disguising artefact was a four star item marked as rare! She probably couldn't even get her hands on that outside even if she wanted to!
"Then, what about Seaweed's things?" The kraken looked around, its gelatinous eyes seeming worried. "This is Seaweed's home."
"That's not an issue. I can put your cave inside my world and you can go in whenever you wish." In order to possess the treasures rightfully, she spared no expense. "Seaweed can come out to experience the world with me."
The kraken hesitated for all of two seconds, then nodded. "Okay!"
And that was how, with a few operations, an entire cave full of treasures completely vanished from the bottom of the seabed, and an enormous sea monster suddenly reappeared as a gold octopus clip with ruby eyes on a certain siren's head.
Catlen had discovered early on that she could accommodate her sea world as she wished, so putting the cave inside of it was truly a peace of cake. She put it in a favorable location with coral reef and colourful fish for a nice view.
Inside her inner world, the kraken wouldn't have to worry about being hunted, so there was no need for the cave to be put in a remote location.
She sighed with satisfaction and rubbed her hands. Now, those treasures were all hers, and she could use them whenever she wanted!
Feeling she was very clever, Catlen put away her sack of things and swooshed her tail to swim back the way she had come.
Swimming with a tail was so convenient, she couldn't imagine what it would be like to swim with two legs.
First of all, her speed couldn't be compared, since she could shoot forward ten metres with one single wave of her tail. Her agility was also off the charts.
All in all, Catlen was very satisfied with not only her current physical state, but also her productivity for the day. She had just followed a mission and had gotten rich.
The game counted the coins in the sack for her, and her game coin balance automatically grew from zero to ten thousand.
Ding! {Secret Side Quest: 'Side Job; Scammer' Improvised! Reward: 500 XP!}
{Congratulations! You levelled up!}
Catlen was instantly displeased, and even breaking through to another level wasn't enough to make her happy again.
What did this stupid game mean by that? Why did it give her so many XP reward points? She hadn't scammed anyone, she had only taken in another follower. It was a righteous and aboveboard transaction!
A transaction, okay?!
