In a little while, eighteen representatives of the noble houses within the capital were standing in a hall. Order than the knights guarding the palace, no other person was allowed to enter into the palace with a weapon, however, an exception was made for this day.
Not only were they allowed to carry their weapons in, but they were told that they could bring into the hall with them a single escort knight.
And so, behind all the nobles gathered were eighteen knights from the various houses gathered in the hall.
At the front of the hall was a four feet tall wooden box. It wasn't a fancy box. It looked like something meant for storing food. And two knights stood guard on each side of the box.
Amongst themselves, some of the nobles whispered, while others patiently waited to see what was going to happen.
They had gathered like they had been asked to but we're yet to be addressed, so they could only wonder what was going to happen.
