They all relaxed for the rest of the day and chatted a bit. Everyone in her friend group asked her what had happened with Xavier, and she reiterated the same story as she did with the seniors.
They all nodded and seemed to have the same attitude of her not being attractive enough to pull Xavier.
They spoke as if she was not there, This was a first ever since she came to the company, the way everyone disregarded her feelings when it came to Xavier.
She too was partly to blame as she allowed them to do that.
Tonight, they were drinking, and Ayla was trying to pace herself. The vibe and atmosphere were a lot of fun.
They sat in the hall, and the others began dancing. Ayla just sat and watched her peers. They all left their jackets with her.
She didn't mind at all, dancing was not her best suit and watching her friends being happy made her smile.
"Why are you seated alone?"
Ayla was shocked as Xavier sat next to her. What did he want now? They had already spoken earlier; what more did he want?
"Sir......."
He cut her off before she could ask what he wanted.
"I asked you a question, Ayla. I didn't ask you to call me."
He grated on her nerves, "I enjoy watching others have fun."
He seemed a bit surprised, as if her answer was very weird, "And you? So you would rather watch others have fun?"
"It's my fun to watch others have fun. I know it seems strange, but it's hard for me to explain. I'm not sad, I'm happy. Good food and nice atmosphere, that's all I need."
He seemed to be taking her appearance in, "You seem more relaxed."
She shrugged, "The night is fun, I suppose."
Ayla didn't have the energy to dissect what he meant.
"No, that's not it."
He grabbed her face and pulled her in. She thought he would kiss her, but he stopped, their faces an inch apart.
"You're drinking."
He let go of her face,
Ayla didn't know why it was such a huge deal, "Everyone is, Sir."
He chuckled, "I see you become different when drunk."
"No, I'm not." She slurred out.
"No, the Ayla I met the other night is coming out."
Not him probing her again, shut him down!
"What did I do to you, Sir?"
He tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
She was tired of him lingering and stressing her out, Tonight, there would be no regrets; she wasn't afraid to let him have it.
"You're complicating my life."
He looked at her in amusement. "How am I, Ayla?"
She took a deep breath. "I bet everyone is watching. you should focus on other girls or employees- anybody but me, please. This, all this is not for me. So please focus on them."
"Why should I?" He replied, seeming to enjoy the conversation at the expense of her discomfort.
Breathe, Ayla, breathe, don't forget, he is now your boss, but her other intrusive thoughts were fighting her so badly that it felt as if she couldn't control them. "I don't want to give everyone the wrong idea, not that they think that. You have plenty of women you can bother."
"What?"
Ayla sighed, "Women you're attracted to, Sir, plenty to pick from."
Xavier grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her close to him, she could feel his hot breath on her lips.
"Who said I'm not attracted to you?"
His hot breath on her, Ayla was afraid of doing something stupid, "I.........."
She tried to pull back, but he was not relenting, her eyes met his stark blue ones, heat rushed all over her.
"Sir?"
They both turned to one of the senior staff, and Ayla felt herself blush profusely. His grip loosened from her face.
Ayla managed to pull her head back and rub her neck; in these moments, she did not know how to react.
Ayla wondered if the senior had not joined, would she have kissed him? It would be better if she didn't answer her question.
"Can we join?"
Ayla nodded profusely, not wanting to be stuck with Xavier much longer than she wanted to.
How did her having her fun turn into a group project of everyone surrounding her? Great, what a lovely boss, not able to take a hint.
"Can I sit there?"
Ayla saw that she was talking to her and nodded, "Of course."
