The Little Lingtong came as a pair, priced at 66 Black Dragon Coins total—just right for merchants, who only needed one set per caravan.
Unfortunately, there were no units currently in stock. Orders had to be pre-ordered, and delivery would take three days, with items sent directly to their lodging addresses.
"No need to panic, everyone! There's no stock now because it's the Labor Day holiday—we gave our factory workers a break. Once the holiday ends, production lines will be running at full speed!"
Even so, ten merchants placed pre-orders on the spot—a significant number.
After all, large caravans weren't that common. Most were medium- or small-sized.
By the end of the day, six large caravans, three medium, and one small caravan had paid up.
That small caravan belonged to Wang Hu and his crew. They had borrowed 30 Black Dragon Coins from their elder—getting the Little Lingtong was a must for them.
They had once missed the best opportunity to earn big due to overconfidence. Now they were staking their hopes on the Lingtong to recoup their losses, with interest.
Those who didn't buy the Lingtong weren't uninterested—they were just broke.
Had they known such a product was coming, they wouldn't have splurged so much in the city—fancy meals, expensive inns—and now they found themselves short.
Looks like their early retirement dreams would have to wait. At the very least, they'd need to earn enough for a Lingtong first.
They'd barely begun to relax before this wave pulled them right back in.
Being broke had never felt so painful.
Jingui returned to the inn carrying the Lingtong.
"This is the device that lets you talk across great distances—and see the other person's face."
This time, Elder Turtle didn't try to nitpick. He'd been proven wrong a few times now, and besides, this was something even the Xuanwu Clan couldn't replicate.
Jingui stepped into the street and made a demonstration call with the device.
Elder Turtle tried answering the call.
"Elder, can you see me?"
Of course, he could.
Even the Xuanwu Demon Lord's pupils dilated in surprise.
Could this be the rebirth of the transmission stone?!
When Jingui ended the call and came back inside, the Demon Lord gave a direct order:
"Place an order for ten more."
He wasn't the only one.
Back from the product launch, Wang Hu demonstrated the Lingtong to his clan elder, who immediately gave him more money:
"Order five more—no, ten! Quickly! As fast as you can!"
They were spooked by Black Dragon City's explosive demand. If word of this product spread, there'd be a frenzy—better to stock up now while they could.
The Qingluan Clan, although slower to receive news, had Qingyuan as their insider. Thanks to that, the kids living in the royal palace all received their own Lingtongs.
After hearing about its capabilities, Qingyuan also wanted to order one for his aunts. But sadly, his secret savings had been confiscated by his mother—he could only spread his hands helplessly.
At worst, he'd wait until he got the device and send the second one back via Black Dragon Express.
Gousheng, as a disciple of the royal prophet, received a free unit as well.
Due to the holiday, they were only given voucher cards. Once production resumed, they could go directly to the factory to redeem their Lingtongs, with priority access.
But his mother, Wu Xiang, accidentally let the news slip—and soon all of Black Dragon City's local demons knew Gousheng had been rewarded for academic excellence.
Word traveled fast. That evening at the open-air cinema, the news was casually discussed, and soon the entire city knew.
But knowing didn't help. That was something earned, not bought. Not everyone had the brains for it.
"That Gousheng kid has been smart since he was little."
Yin Jixue set aside two Lingtongs for Bai Baobao and Bai Buer, so that Baobao could video chat with his dad.
At the palace, she and Lou Zhao often referred to the Lingtong casually as a "shǒu jī"—a "cell phone." The nickname stuck.
The two kids who had gone on vacation finally returned, dragging back four dark guards who looked like they'd been through hell.
Yin Jixue was shocked.
"What happened? Weren't you at an amusement park?"
That should have been a cozy, cheerful place. But Long Da and the others looked like they'd seen a ghost.
"Your Highness… we'd rather walk back to Black Dragon City than set foot in that place again."
The kids had a blast. The four guards had nearly lost their lives.
Not literally, of course—but demons had a much higher threshold for terror than humans.
Even so, these were elite guards—the pinnacle of human endurance—and they still came back broken.
They would never set foot in Black Dragon Mouth again.
Yin Jixue looked at Lian Ze, whose innocent face showed not a trace of guilt.
"Xiao Ze, what did you play?"
Lian Ze's cheeks flushed red. He shyly tapped his fingers together.
"We rode the Black Dragon Roller Coaster, the Spinning Beasts, the Sky Wheel, the Bumper Beasts, and the Black Dragon Boat. So many fun rides!"
Long Da shivered involuntarily.
That kid looked sweet and harmless, but when it came to amusement parks, he had nerves of steel.
Worse, he liked to ride two or three times per attraction and wouldn't leave until he was bored.
Yin Jixue was confused. These all sounded like fun rides—what was so terrifying?
She eyed Long Da suspiciously.
"Did you all slack off on your training?"
Long Da looked like he'd just been betrayed.
"Your Highness! That Black Dragon Roller Coaster soared into the sky and plunged into the earth. We thought we were going to die multiple times!"
Yin Jixue shook her head.
"What's so scary about that? Isn't the thrill the whole point of roller coasters?"
Long Er, eyes dim, muttered:
"Your Highness… ever since you came to the demon realm, you've changed… You're stronger than all of us now."
Yin Jixue turned to the small charm on the table.
"What's wrong with them?"
The dark guards looked closer and saw that it was a tiny dragon.
They swallowed hard.
If they'd seen the Demon King's true form, would they even be alive right now?
The little dragon yawned lazily and spoke in a soft baby voice:
"The moment we arrived, I sensed their magical aura collapsing. They probably didn't have magic shielding, which is why they ended up like this."
Long Si shivered.
"That's right! I felt fine on the roller coaster, but from the Spinning Beasts onward, it got unbearable."
Yin Jixue was incredulous.
"Spinning Beasts scared you?!"
That's just an upgraded carousel!
Even the airborne version—a fancy swing—wasn't scary. The chains were sturdy. It was fun!
The look on her face crushed what was left of the guards' spirits.
Long Er, aged beyond his years, muttered:
"Your Highness… the amusement park is truly a place of terror. If you don't believe us, go see for yourself."
Yin Jixue poked the baby dragon's head.
"Want to go on a trip?"
The baby dragon curled around her wrist like a bracelet.
"Up to you. Wherever you go, I'll follow."
Yin Jixue thought to herself: It's just an amusement park. What are they so afraid of? These are supposed to be my elite guards—looks like we need to toughen them up!
Long Er, reckless as ever, blurted:
"Can we come too?"
Yin Jixue saw right through him, but nodded.
Time to teach these boys a lesson… There's always someone stronger, and always a higher sky.
