"You may go now."
Rus waved his hand. Petty bowed respectfully and turned to leave.
Only when her figure disappeared down the corridor and the hallway was empty did Rus finally speak.
"Go on. What is it?"
Simon's expression was stern. "My Lord Baron, I must report Officer Erik for abusing his authority for personal gain."
"On the day of the final battle at Blood Highland, during the selection of the vanguard, Officer Erik claimed the process was by lottery. But in truth, he secretly pressured us and colluded to rig the results."
"Each slip of paper in the draw was marked!"
"His aim was clear—to send young Visdon to his death!"
Simon's voice echoed in the corridor, low and seething with rage and indignation.
The air felt as heavy as lead. Simon stood tensely, awaiting Rus's response.
But after a long silence, Rus merely gave Simon a deep look—then turned and walked away.
