Just as the group was about to enter Eagle Town, Savannah rode up beside Rus.
"My lord Baron, thank you for your care during this time. Now that we've returned to Nord Province, I'll take my leave."
Rus was a little surprised. "Eagle Keep is just ahead. Why not stay a little longer? I'd be glad to show you proper hospitality."
"I appreciate your kindness," Savannah replied, her tone as firm and cold as ever. "But I've already lingered in the Blood-soaked Highlands too long. I must report back as soon as possible."
"In that case, I won't press you," Rus said courteously. "But traveling alone is dangerous. Should I assign a few soldiers to accompany you, just in case?"
"No need. I already owe you too much," she replied without hesitation.
Her gaze flicked toward Nancy, who followed closely behind Rus, and her next words carried a subtle edge: "Your support for the Holy Church's great cause will surely be richly rewarded."
