Eric focused his energy, extracting a small portion of his power. The surrounding metal objects began to melt into liquid form.
These molten metals, under Eric's control, converged around the surface of the box, layering and solidifying continuously.
In the blink of an eye, the ordinary-sized box expanded visibly, rapidly growing to a towering six meters.
At the same time, the violently trembling box finally came to a stop. Seeing this, Eric secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
"I told you, it's still not enough."
Boom—
A deafening explosion erupted without warning. The massive box shattered like a detonated bomb, bursting apart.
Countless fragments and a powerful shockwave blasted outward, unleashing a terrifying force in all directions.
Caught at the center of the explosion, Eric had no time to react before the immense shockwave flung him violently into the air.
With a dull thud, his body slammed against the ground. It felt as if every bone in his body was about to break. He coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Outside, Raven had only just stepped out when she heard the thunderous explosion. She turned back to see the roof of the abandoned warehouse being blown sky-high, scattering debris everywhere.
A towering plume of smoke rose, forming a sinister mushroom cloud that enveloped the entire warehouse.
"Eric!"
The members of the Brotherhood, who had been unconscious, were jolted awake, staring at the scene in bewilderment.
"Cough... What kind of monster are you?!"
Leaning against the wall for support, Eric glared at the figure emerging from the smoke.
Whoosh—
A gust of wind swept through the warehouse, dispersing the dust and revealing Kino's figure.
"Monster? I'm one hundred percent human."
Eric scoffed, manipulating the metal on his body to help himself stand. His pride would not allow him to remain so pathetically on the ground.
"I wasn't aware that ordinary humans could possess the strength to lift thousands of tons and blow gusts of wind from their mouths."
"Never underestimate human potential," Kino replied calmly. "I know of two mortals who have surpassed the gods."
Seeing the blood at the corner of Eric's mouth, Kino added with concern, "Are your injuries serious?"
"I won't die," Eric snapped back stubbornly.
"Good. Then let's go."
"Go where?"
"To save your wife and daughter. Do you remember the time and place?"
Fury flared in Eric's eyes as he shouted, "They're already dead! They've been dead for over a decade! How do you plan to save them, travel through time?!"
His bloodshot eyes and hoarse voice betrayed the deep pain that had been reawakened.
"What if I told you we could try?" Kino extended his hand toward Eric.
Eric stared at Kino's outstretched hand, his expression a mix of conflict and struggle.
Logic told him that time travel was impossible. Yet, a fragile spark of hope ignited in his shattered heart.
What if... What if it was true?
His breathing grew rapid as his internal turmoil made his body tremble slightly.
After a long pause, Eric slowly raised his hand and grasped Kino's.
"October 18th, 1983. Carmel Town, Texas. If you're lying to me, I'll never work with you again."
Eric's words were defiant, but his gaze held a desperate determination.
Kino smiled faintly as the emblem on his chest glowed with a lightning bolt symbol.
"Eric!"
At that moment, Raven appeared at the warehouse entrance with the Brotherhood members in tow, her face filled with worry.
Eric turned to her and shouted, "Raven, if I don't return, disband the Brotherhood and take them to Charles."
"Roar!"
Sabretooth, unconcerned with their conversation, lunged forward with a furious growl.
In the next instant, yellow lightning crackled around Kino and Eric, and the world suddenly fell silent.
"Is this... time stopping?"
Eric was stunned as he saw Raven frozen mid-run and Sabretooth suspended mid-leap.
"Try not to throw up," Kino warned.
With that, he grabbed Eric tightly, and the two of them, surrounded by yellow lightning, vanished from sight.
Sabretooth landed face-first on the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
They had entered the Speed Force Dimension.
Brilliant streams of multicolored light intertwined like dreamlike ribbons, while bolts of lightning crackled with overwhelming power.
This was the Speed Force, the bridge between the past, present, and future.
Speedsters who could harness the Speed Force could use this mysterious dimension to travel through time.
It was Kino's first attempt—and it had worked flawlessly.
Locking onto the direction of the past, Kino sped forward with Eric in tow.
Eric's eyes widened in astonishment as he took in the dazzling lights and rapid movement around him.
As they accelerated, vivid scenes from the past flashed by like movie reels:
He saw himself quietly reading a book at a table.
Then, the image shifted to a fierce battle between the Toad and the Porcupine Man.
Finally, Raven appeared, hurrying back while carrying a box.
They were truly traveling through time!
Just as Eric was reveling in this realization, Kino's expression suddenly darkened as a green light appeared ahead. Without hesitation, he exited the Speed Force Dimension with Eric.
The next moment, they reappeared on the warehouse rooftop.
Before Eric could gather his bearings, a familiar voice rang out from below.
"Who's there?!"
Reacting swiftly, Kino grabbed Eric and streaked away as yellow lightning, stopping only when they reached a distant hillside overlooking the warehouse.
"Wow, Magneto, you're quick to strike first," Kino teased, glancing at the scattered metal needles below.
Eric realized they had arrived one week earlier. He looked at Kino with newfound respect.
"Why did we stop?" he asked.
"Forgot to get permission," Kino said, glancing at the sky. "Supreme Sorcerer, can we pass?"
A slip of paper floated down from the sky, which Kino caught and read.
"You may save them, but you must not alter the timeline."
Kino chuckled. "Understood. Thanks, Sorcerer."
"Time is an illusion, but hope is eternal."
