Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: You Are My Life

"Today, I am not the Demon King. I am Her Majesty the Queen's servant. The one you should be kneeling to is not me."

Kino shook his head with a gentle smile and took a step back.

He slightly bowed, signaling to everyone that Venom was the true authority at this moment.

The demons and the crowd exchanged confused glances, their eyes filled with uncertainty.

Wasn't she the Queen?

At that moment, a quick-witted individual was the first to shout, "Greetings to Her Majesty the Queen!"

His words were like a spark igniting a fuse, and soon, the others followed suit, their voices echoing together.

"Greetings to Her Majesty the Queen!"

The waves of sound grew louder and louder, shaking the air.

"Rise. Carry on with your duties," Venom said, imitating Kino's regal demeanor from his memories, striving to appear dignified and authoritative.

"Thank you, Your Majesty!" The demons and the crowd dispersed, returning to their tasks.

"Kino, this is fun," Venom said, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

She had never experienced the feeling of commanding thousands with a single word. The novelty filled her heart, making her steps lighter.

"Your Majesty, as long as you wish, you are the ruler here," Kino said sincerely, as the tattoo on his wrist glowed faintly, transforming into a bracelet.

Venom knew Kino was serious.

He never wanted to manage these troublesome affairs. All he desired was a peaceful life with his loved ones, a warm home, some wealth, and the ability to protect himself.

Charles and the others, however, panicked. They were just about to accept a new king, but the new king wanted to abdicate.

"No way, it's too much trouble. You're just trying to push the responsibility onto me," Venom pouted, turning her head away. She knew Kino too well. Beneath his carefree exterior, he was exhausted.

In this dangerous world, carrying the lives of so many meant he couldn't afford a single misstep.

Venom's gaze held a mix of reproach and affection.

"What a pity," Kino said half-jokingly, a relaxed smile on his face. "I was this close to living a life of luxury, supported by my queen."

Charles let out a sigh of relief. So, it was just a joke. His tense nerves eased, and his expression relaxed again.

But Jean could sense Kino's fatigue.

He was already so tired, yet she had placed even more burdens on him. Her heart ached as she stepped forward to comfort him.

Before she could speak, Venom had already pulled Kino into her arms, pressing his head against her chest.

"I'm done playing. The servant game is over. Just call me Venom again," Venom said.

Jean hesitated mid-step, her expression dimming as the light in her eyes faded. She silently stood aside, filled with helplessness and bitterness.

Charles and the others tactfully turned away, pretending to admire the city's scenery. Ororo, however, noticed Jean's unusual behavior.

She quietly approached Jean, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong, Jean?"

Jean bit her lip and lowered her head slightly. In a quiet, downcast voice, she said, "It's nothing... I just always feel like I'm one step behind."

Ororo sighed softly. "Don't think that way. There will be other chances."

Jean nodded faintly, but the disappointment in her eyes remained.

Kino, still in Venom's embrace, rubbed his face against her, breathing in her familiar scent like a child seeking comfort.

"Energy replenished. As expected, I feel useless without you around," Kino murmured.

Venom let him go and adjusted her clothes. "Is that what I am to you, a stimulant?"

"No," Kino smiled warmly. "You are my life. As long as you're by my side, I'm unstoppable."

Venom's makeshift heart skipped a beat. Though it was merely a transformation, she couldn't stop it from reacting. A blush crept onto her cheeks as she softly scolded him.

"You're always so good at sweet-talking."

Jean watched their interaction, unable to tear her gaze away.

Initially, she had approached Kino for the sake of mutant survival.

But as she learned more about his powers, his kindness in selling low-cost medicine to help others, and his unwavering devotion to Venom, her feelings quietly shifted.

A part of her envied Venom. She wanted Kino to look at her with the same deep affection. She longed for his warmth and care to be directed toward her.

Unconsciously, she clenched her hands into fists, her teeth lightly grazing her lip as conflicting emotions churned within her.

A voice echoed in her mind.

You can take him...

No...

You have the power...

No... I can't...

Accept your true self, and he will be yours...

I... won't...

The voice grew louder and clearer, and Jean's eyes darkened with a creeping blackness, consuming the light within them.

A voice from the sky suddenly interrupted her thoughts.

"Darling~!"

Jean looked up to see a red-haired woman, just like herself, gracefully descending from the sky like a butterfly. She landed directly in Kino's arms.

"Pamela—Mmph!" Kino barely got her name out before the woman's red lips sealed his mouth in a kiss.

The darkness vanished from Jean's eyes as shock flooded her face. She glanced between Kino and the unfamiliar woman, and then at Venom, who stood calmly beside them.

What was going on?

Her mind froze, unable to comprehend the scene unfolding before her.

Another figure slowly descended from the sky.

Venom watched as the kiss lingered for minutes and finally clapped Pamela on the shoulder.

"Alright, that's enough. Are you two practicing breath-holding?" Venom teased.

"Mwah!" Pamela finally pulled away, a string of saliva still connecting their lips. She licked her lips seductively, breaking the strand.

The sensual display made Jean blush furiously. Embarrassed, she turned her head away, her heart pounding in her chest as she touched her flushed face.

Pamela looked strikingly similar to her, making it easy to picture herself in that situation.

"Venom-sis, I just missed my darling so much," Pamela whined playfully.

"You just saw him yesterday. Are you in heat?" Venom quipped.

"Venom-sis~"

Kino turned to the silent figure standing nearby and opened his arms. "Xi, let me hold you."

"Yes, Young Master." Xi swiftly walked into Kino's embrace, her face radiating happiness and contentment.

Jean's pupils contracted in shock. A third one?

Kino gazed at them all with the same tenderness he showed Venom—a gaze filled with love and warmth, capable of melting anyone's heart.

Each woman wore a matching gemstone ring on her finger, sparkling brilliantly under the sun.

"Love is not about how many people you hold in your heart, but how deeply you hold them."
