Chapter 12 - The Mark and the Message

September 26th,

There are moments when the unseen becomes seen — not because we wanted it, but because it demanded to be noticed.

It began with a symbol. A scar. A warning.

And then, a vision that shattered any doubt.

She didn't run. She was taken.

***

It was Anita who noticed it first.

She screamed.

I ran out of the room, heart pounding. "What happened?!"

She was pointing at the wall outside our hostel room — a faint cross-like symbol drawn in what looked like charcoal or ash. The lines weren't smooth. They were jagged. Violent.

Tony arrived seconds later, still panting from his jog.

"What the—"

"There's another one," Anita whispered.

She led us down the hallway — to the stairwell.

Another mark.

Then outside, behind the building.

And finally, we saw it again — at the corner of our department block.

Four locations. The same distorted cross.

Burned, not drawn.

Tony touched one of the symbols. "It's warm…"

That night, I couldn't sleep. I sat up, Bible on my lap, praying in tongues under my breath.

Then it came.

The air shifted — like gravity folding in.

My eyes closed.

And I saw her.

The Vision:

Mayumi sat in a small, dark room, her hands bound in front of her. She wasn't crying — just breathing, steady but slow. There were strange shadows on the wall, moving like smoke, but shaped like claws.

Then a voice whispered:

"You lit a fire. Now face the flame."

A tall figure stepped into the room. I couldn't see his face — just glowing eyes and a staff carved with symbols.

He raised a hand over her. She flinched.

Then suddenly, she looked up — straight at me.

"Tell them. I didn't leave. I was taken."

I gasped.

I woke up drenched in sweat.

It wasn't a dream.

I knew it wasn't.

"Tony," I called, rushing to his room. "She's alive. But she's not missing. She's kidnapped."

His eyes widened. "What?"

"Someone — something — took her. It's spiritual… but it's also physical. She's held somewhere. And they marked us — the hostel, our class block — they marked us for a reason."

Anita stood in the doorway, trembling. "That means… we're next?"

I looked at both of them.

"No. It means they're afraid of what we're about to do."

***

They wanted us to stop.

So they took her.

But this isn't where we run.

This is where we roar.

We will find her.

And when we do —

Let hell tremble.
