"Okay. We'll look into it. But, you better hope for your sake that we find something that clears you. Because right now? All the evidence points at you. And if we can prove it, we will make sure that you are punished."
Melanie nodded and was about to ask if she could get legal representation now but before that, there was a knock on the door and then, a young officer poked his head in, his tone almost uncertain. "Uh, sir? Mrs. Collins' lawyer is here. He has court orders to be allowed to meet her."
Both detectives froze.
The taller one then arched a brow and turned to Melanie with a smirk that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Interesting, Mrs Collins. You've been in here this whole time. No phone call. No rights read. And yet… your lawyer is already here? So, did you contact a lawyer before coming here or on the way here?"
Melanie blinked.
