Lilith exhaled deeply, her cold breath curling into the night air.
She slowly unwound her arms from across her chest, her fingers flexing once before resting on the hood of her car. The metal was cool beneath her touch, but not nearly as cold as the storm brewing behind her eyes.
Her voice cut through the silence like a blade.
"You took someone I loved."
Her tone was calm, almost too calm. But every syllable dripped with venom.
She looked Boss square in the eyes, her jaw set with deadly resolve.
"I won't forgive you for that," she said.
"And I won't end this war."
A beat of silence followed—heavy, loaded.
Then, it was Boss's turn to laugh.
He let it out slowly, his body tilting slightly with amusement as if he were at a comedy show. The sound was low and arrogant, laced with mockery.
He pulled out his phone from his pocket and waved it at her casually. "Tsk, tsk," he said, shaking his head, "You should've taken the deal when you had the chance."
