"Hey, you barren woman, mind the way you talk back at us," Stanley sneered, his voice dripping with malice and contempt.
"Remember, you're nothing compared to Jenna, who has always been the epitome of perfection, because she's pregnant while you, on the other hand, are just a failed, childless woman, a constant reminder of your own inadequacy and infertility."
"You should be utterly ashamed of yourself, you chauvinistic chuck!" Zoe cursed "You'd better be careful with me, because I'm not the timid, submissive Zoe you used to know; I've evolved, I've grown, and I won't hesitate to take you down a peg.
Zoe turned to face Janna "As for you, Jenna, you deserve each other - you're both scum, feeding off each other's toxicity and narcissism."
"Oh, I see someone's still nursing a broken heart because her husband divorced her and chose me," Jenna said, as she rolled her eyes and snuggled closer to Stanley, wrapping her arm possessively around his. A mischievous smile spread across her face like a cruel taunt, as if to rub salt in Zoe's wounds.
Zoe stood tall. Her expression serene and unyielding, as she watched Jenna and Stanley make a spectacle of themselves in public.
Their childish antics and venomous remarks rolled off her like water off a duck's back, for she knew that they were relics of a past she had long outgrown. And that their feeble attempts to provoke her were nothing more than a pathetic cry for attention, devoid of any real power to affect her emotions or disturb her peace.
"Scumbags." Zoe muttered under her breath, before turning around and flashing a bright smile as she caught sight of Barbara walking towards her.
"Did you say something?" Stanley asked Zoe, his tone dripping with mockery. "I thought I heard someone, but I must have been mistaken—only a jealous and lonely person would bother to mumble," he sneered. Jenna, predictably, burst into a shrill, mocking laugh, amplifying Stanley's cruel taunt.
Zoe, however, remained unfazed, her eyes calmly fixed on Barbara, who had just joined her, after bringing out her car from the parking lot and sighting Zoe arguing with some people. She decided to pack at the side of the road and Walk to call Zoe.
"I don't want to waste another minute of my precious time on you scumbags," Zoe said, as she turned to walk away.
Zoe felt a sudden tap on her shoulder, and she spun around to find Jenna's smug face inches from hers, a malicious glint in her eyes, as if she dared Zoe to react.
"How dare you lay your dirty hands on me, huh!" Zoe yelled and she tried to slap Jenna, but Jenna and Stanley were too quick to stop her. They grabbed her hand, holding her in a tight grip.
Just as it seemed like things were about to escalate, Barbara burst into the fray, pushing Stanley away with a fierce determination, her eyes blazing with a fierce protectiveness, as she stood up for her friend.
"Who are these crazy people?" Barbara asked, staring at Stanley and Jenna with a mixture of disdain and disgust, as she positioned herself protectively beside Zoe.
"This is Stanley and Jenna, the scumbags." Zoe responded.
"Is Jenna this crazy, huh?" Barbara said, as she darted her eyes towards Jenna, her gaze scrutinizing and disbelieving.
"And who is this bitch?" Stanley sneered, his face reddening with rage, as he took a step closer to Barbara, his eyes blazing with hostility, "Did you just call us crazy people?" he thundered, his voice echoing through the air, as Jenna stood beside him, her eyes flashing with malice.
"I called you crazy, and what will you do, you stupid man?" Barbara sneered, her voice dripping with contempt. "You used my best friend, dumped her like trash, and broke her heart into a million pieces, after you cheated on her with this... thing behind you," she cursed, her eyes blazing with fury and disgust, as she glared at Jenna, who cowered behind Stanley.
"And you, Jenna, you betrayed your own sister after everything she did for you, you snitch," Barbara hissed, her voice heavy with disgust and outrage.
"Hey, bitch, mind your business," Jenna snapped, as she glared at Barbara with a fierce and unyielding intensity.
"Barbara, you don't have to waste your energy on these scumbags, it's not worth it," Zoe said, and she placed a gentle hand on Barbara's arm, trying to diffuse the tension and guide her away from the toxic confrontation.
Barbara pulled Zoe's hands away and said firmly "Allow me to handle these two good-for-nothings," she stepped forward, her eyes blazing with determination and a fierce protectiveness, ready to take on Stanley and Jenna once and for all.
"You husband snatcher!" Barbara yelled, her voice echoing through the air. "You think I haven't heard how you slept with your sister's husband? And now you are pregnant for him, Snitch!" The crowd that had gathered gasped in shock, and then burst out laughing at Jenna's expense.
Their mocking gazes made Jenna's face burn with shame and humiliation.
Barbara turned to Stanley, and said, "You should be ashamed of yourself, you deadbeat ex-husband," her voice dripping with contempt, "You betrayed my friend after she cared for you, supported you, and stood by you when you had no job and earned nothing, and this is how you repay her kindness?"
Stanley and Jenna froze, their faces were burning with embarrassment, as they couldn't muster the courage to walk into the restaurant anymore. Their eyes scanned the crowd that had gathered, as all eyes drifted towards them.
Their whispers filled the air. Making the atmosphere even more uncomfortable and humiliating for them.
"So this is what you do now?" Stanley finally managed to speak, he turned to Zoe and sneered, "Zoe, you now go about telling people I don't have a job, that you fed and supported me throughout our entire marriage, huh?"
"How dare you mention my name with that filthy mouth of yours!" Zoe yelled, her voice exploding in a furious outburst, as she took a step forward.
