"Lorenzo," Donatella greeted, her voice smooth and practiced. "Welcome home."
Angelica stepped forward and hugged her brother tightly. "I thought you'd never come back."
Lorenzo didn't return the hug. He stood still, unmoving. His mother noticed, and her expression shifted just slightly.
"You didn't bring Silver and the boy," she said softly, looking behind him.
"They were taken by your husband," Lorenzo said flatly.
The silence that followed was heavy. Romano and Riccardo walked up behind him, also noting the thick layer of armed guards stationed at every visible corner of the estate. Snipers on rooftops. Dogs in the garden. High fences.
"He's preparing for war," Riccardo murmured.
"He knows I'm coming," Lorenzo answered.
