The wolf snorted softly and nuzzled Megan's side again, then slowly closed his eyes, releasing a low, content breath.

She slid down onto the rock outside the cave, her hands absentmindedly moving through the thick fur on his back as the massive ebony wolf laid his head across her lap, breathing in slow, peaceful rhythms.
But within the wolf — within that strange, unfamiliar body — Orion stood adrift in a world that felt like both a dream and a trap.
He looked around in awe and confusion.
The space surrounding him was dark, but not empty. A vast, cavernous expanse stretched outward, filled with flickering, silvery light like stars suspended in water.
