Beep... beep... beep... beep...
The only sound inside the room.
Beep... beep... beep...
Covering her hand, the man leans forward, as if he started praying. Suddenly, his hand starts shaking.
"Mother..."
Tears start falling from his face. The mother responds, her voice raspy as if struggling to breathe.
"Aragon..."
His hand shakes at the sound of her voice.
"Aragon... look at me."
Looking up, he sees his mother. Multiple cables connected to her body. Her face tired and wrinkly. Her once beautiful white hair, old and in disarray.
Struggling, she pats her son's head slowly.
"Everything will be fine, son... Don't worry about me..."
After a short pause, she continues.
"Just worry about your little sister, okay?"
Aragon looks down, tears coming out of his face once again.
"Don't worry, mother, I'll get you out of here... I promise."
His mother laughs.
"Haha... I just told you to not worry about it, son... I'll be fine."
Aragon's anger surfaces.
"Stop lying, mother! The doctor already told me... You only have around a year to survive without the required treatment..."
Coughing, the mother responds.
"It doesn't matter, son... Don't get into any trouble... Just take care of your sister, I know everything will be fine. I will try my best to get rid of this thing... For you son..."
Aragon looks up, and with a determined face, kisses his mother's hand.
"Fine, mother, I will try my best. Rest a bit, you're probably tired."
Without another word, the woman looks to the front and closes her eyes. Glancing at the beeping machine, Aragon leaves the room.
Outside, his sister was waiting, seeing him come out, her eyes lit up.
"Done?"
With a simple nod, they both start heading outside.
***
They both walk along the clean hallway of the hospital, the windows on their left allowing the potent sun outside to reflect on Aragon's beautiful white hair.
Multiple people stare at them, mainly Aragon. His beautiful face, messy wavy white hair, along with his lean, beautiful, strong body, made him look as if he were an angel that had fallen from the sky.
His sister was nothing to scoff at either, she was pretty young, her beautiful face was hidden by the shadow of her big brother, her white hair was in disarray, but still, it looked nothing but majestic.
Silence covered the beautiful siblings.
They had nothing to talk about. Or rather. They didn't like talking about anything inside the hospital. Every single time they are inside the hospital, the dread they experience at the sight of the state of other patients, at the sight of their mother. It is too strong.
After a couple of minutes of walking, they reach the exit. Aragon protects his eyes from the strong sun, looking at them from above.
Heading to his left, an incredible view unfolds in front of him.
Tall skyscrapers that seemed as if they touched the sky. With multiple kinds of roads and bridges hovering in the air between the skyscrapers, making the city look like a futuristic labyrinth. Trains are speeding through the rails at an immense speed, one after another; The white railroads, along with the size of the blue skyscrapers, created an amazing harmony, calm and imposing.
In the middle of the tall skyscrapers stood the tallest one, its tip hovering above the clouds. Most of them followed the same kind of structure. Wide at the bottom, and the taller it is, the skinnier the skyscraper gets.
It is a truly amazing view.
But Aragon hated it.
The skyscrapers are where the high-standing people live. The closer you get to the center, the better the living conditions are.
Reaching the train station, Aragon simply passes through the gate blocking him as it beeps.
His sister struggles to pass.
"Aragon, help! I don't have any more credits!"
She was waving her hand on the gate, the sophisticated gate beeping red as she passed her hand through it.
With a sigh. Aragon simply looks at his wrist. After a couple of touches in the hologram wristband, his sister finally passes through the gate, with a wide smile on her face.
"Thank you brother! You're so amazing!"
Aragon glances at her, putting his hands in his pockets, he simply continues walking towards the train.
"Let's go, the train might leave soon."
Hurrying to her brother's side, she follows closely as they approach the train. A lot of people can be seen coming in and out of the train, the woman wearing different types of clothes, a lot of them wearing dresses with beautiful gold and silver accents, the man wearing elegant coats of different colors. Most of them of color blue and black, a few of different colors.
Most of them have these elegant clothes, some wear normal, mundane clothes.
Looking down, Aragon inspects his normal, commoner clothes. Then glances at his sister, who is wearing a white dress.
Grabbing her hand, they both enter the amazing white train.
Inside, they stand looking by the window, all the seats were taken.
His little sister grabs him by the waist, holding onto his clothes tightly. Looking down at her, Aragon speaks, his voice soothing.
"Don't worry, she'll be okay."
His sister holds on tighter, as her face saddens. Looking back out the window, Aragon sees the train picking up speed. Suddenly, it shoots out like a cannon, the view outside a blur as the train starts slowing down.
"Elianna..."
His sister looks up, sadness still lingering on her face.
"I'm going to become a mercenary."
Looking up, Elianna's eyes widen.
"My mom has always told us to stay out of trouble, Aragon!"
'I'm surprised she knows what a mercenary is, I guess she's already old enough.'
Patting her head, Aragon responds, his voice still calm. Outside the view of the clean, pretty city starts deteriorating, as they approach the poor areas at an insane speed.
"Elianna, I will save our mother. If I manage to join the mercenaries, then we'll be able to support our mother, and she will get out sooner! Not only that, but the quality of our life will also improve a lot! They pay a lot for perfecteds, you know?"
His sister looks back down, her face sad once again.
"But... It's dangerous..."
The train comes to a stop, Aragon smiles as he looks down.
"I told you not to worry; I won't get into much trouble. I'm stronger than most people anyway."
His sister falls silent as the doors of the train open.
"Now come on, let's go home, I'll cook some meat for you."
A smile creeps onto her face.
"Real meat?!"
Smiling back, he responds.
"You and I know we can't afford that. But soon we will."
Grabbing Elianna's hand, Aragon heads outside. A determined look on his face.
