Chapter 194 - Chapter 85: Glenn's Little Class Begins

"The Disarming Charm, incantation: Expelliarmus. According to the book, to cast a fully powerful Disarming Charm, the first syllable should be elongated," Glenn's voice was low, and the tip of his white wand gathered a red light, "but I don't recommend doing that."

"In battle, the opponent won't give us that much time to chant, so whether it's the Disarming Charm or other concept-based spells, our chanting speed must be fast." The two girls barely heard the incantation from Glenn's mouth, and with a whoosh, a red light shot out from the tip of his wand like a snake and gradually dissipated in the air.

"The power of a spell is related to the amount of magic output by the caster and the accuracy of the casting."

"But concept-based spells don't need great power to have an effect on the target, such as the Disarming Charm."

"A powerful Disarming Charm can not only knock away the opponent's weapon but also send the opponent flying, just like Professor Snape did to Lockhart."

"A weak Disarming Charm, as long as it's not too weak, will affect the opponent's weapon if it hits them."

"It might knock it away, or just make them lose their grip slightly, disrupting their spellcasting, which is enough."

"In battle, everything changes in an instant, and any hindrance to the opponent's actions could be your chance to win."

Out of responsibility to Hermione, Glenn explained his insights on the Disarming Charm and some aspects of spellcasting in detail.

Even though Hermione had her understanding of spellcasting and learning, and Glenn had already explained these things to her privately, hearing Glenn's understanding of these simple spells again was still enlightening for her.

The two had different strengths, and their efficiency in learning different subjects varied, so Glenn and Hermione decided to collaborate, each learning what they were good at first, then spending time teaching each other. They found that this learning method significantly improved both of them, so they continued to use it.

Hermione could follow Glenn's train of thought and listened with great interest, but Ginny, who had a relatively weak foundation, was confused. If Hermione hadn't been continuously transmitting holy power to Ginny, the poor girl might have collapsed.

However, Glenn still held back; he didn't reveal anything about the magical circuit. The essence of spells is to create magic through constructing magical circuits. As long as one can quickly and accurately construct the corresponding magical circuit, all the casting precautions, incantation pauses, and other constraints can be discarded.

Glenn has only told Hermione, his grandmother, Dumbledore, and Snape about the magical circuit. Beyond that, he wouldn't disclose this knowledge.

If it weren't for his ignorance back then, recklessly experimenting with new spells and fainting from excessive magic consumption, he probably wouldn't have told even the old bee and old bat.

"...That's about it. You can start trying on your own," Glenn said and stopped speaking.

"Ginny, shall we give it a try?" Hermione tilted her head and asked the girl who was a head shorter than her.

Hermione couldn't contain her eagerness to practice and seemed impatient.

"...Okay, but I'm not confident I can successfully cast the Disarming Charm..." Ginny hesitated. Although she remembered what Glenn said, remembering knowledge is one thing, and successfully turning it into an advantage is another. "If I use the wrong spell, it might hurt you."

This was true. Even though the wizarding world has developed to this day, it's still impossible to discover all spells. If something goes wrong in casting a spell, it's possible for the intended magic to turn into something completely different.

This was knowledge taught in their first Charms class at Hogwarts, so the young wizards remembered it vividly.

Hermione's eyes turned, and she secretly pulled Ginny aside, whispering, "How about we ask Professor Night Watch to train us?"

"After all, the professor should be able to handle all our spells."

"Isn't that inappropriate?" Ginny was evidently troubled. "Besides, the professor needs to manage the other wizards in this area. We already asked Professor Night Watch for advice earlier, and now doing this would trouble him too much."

"Take a closer look. Does Professor Night Watch really need to supervise this area?"

Only then did Ginny start paying attention to the surroundings and realized that, as Hermione said, the young wizards were well protected by the dueling badges, and the dueling intensity wasn't high.

"Emmm, then... maybe?" Ginny was tempted. It was impossible not to want to train with Professor Night Watch. Just from how patiently and thoroughly he explained the Disarming Charm, she knew Professor Night Watch was a treasure trove of knowledge.

But she was still a bit shy; after all, she was a young girl.

Seeing Ginny's hesitation, Hermione decisively called out to Glenn.

Glenn was bored, scanning the surroundings and observing the reactions of the young wizards, matching each one with the information in his memory like a game of matching pairs.

Compared to the area Snape was in charge of, the dueling intensity here and in Professor Flitwick's area was noticeably lower.

Earlier, when Professor Flitwick was assigning students, almost all the confident young wizards volunteered to be in Snape's area.

They were all impressed by Snape's displayed strength and wanted to show their skills near him, hoping to gain the old bat's favor.

This included Draco, though he just wanted to show off and dragged Neville along, joining Snape's area decisively.

However, Glenn could see from Snape's sour face that the old bat was already quite impatient and obviously disdainful of the so-called duels these kids were talking about.

Most of Glenn's attention was focused over there, as even a little bit of action was better than nothing.

What else could he do? Watch the young wizards play house here?

The familiar voice in his ear drew Glenn's attention back.

"Professor Night Watch~"
