Chapter 173 - Chapter 64: Inquiry

After Glenn and Hermione agreed to wait for the completion of his Gender Transformation Potion to jointly launch the "Ginny Rescue Plan," the two of them focused on their respective areas of study.

Glenn, as expected, carried out everything methodically at his own pace, though he shifted a bit more of his energy toward potion-making, striving to overcome the challenge of the Gender Transformation Potion as soon as possible.

As for Hermione, the young girl began to delve deeply into the Sacred Book she remembered. Based on her current understanding of the Sacred and the Sacred Book, Hermione believed that mastering sorcery related to the Sacred would be highly effective in dispelling the negative state affecting Ginny.

"The Sacred doesn't just dispel negative emotions—it can reach the soul, offering comfort, purification, and restorative power," Hermione explained when Glenn asked about the power of the Sacred.

If Hermione could truly master such miraculous powers, it would play a crucial role when they eventually confronted Ginny.

If Hermione could lift the control over Ginny, the rest of the plan would become much easier.

As for the serpent, Glenn had already decided to handle that himself.

And as for whether he and Hermione might also fall under someone's control...

During this period, Glenn used the Teleportation Door to travel to China and consult his grandmother, Lin Yingqing, on how to effectively shield oneself from external magical influences that could lead to mind control.

Lin Yingqing, drawing from her vast reservoir of knowledge, provided several Clear Mind Protective Spells that Glenn and Hermione could currently master, including but not limited to the Clear Heart Spell and the Mind Locking Spell.

"These spells can weaken the influence when you or the young girl are affected, but with your current abilities, they aren't enough to completely block such sorcery."

"But you don't need to worry. Do you remember the pile of magical artifacts I gave you? Each of those little trinkets is imbued with multiple layers of protective and reflective spells."

"Rest assured, as long as you carry the items I made, even if my father cast a soul-controlling spell on you, you'd be able to resist for a while."

"Do you need me to secretly come to your school and help you deal with this trouble?" Lin Yingqing asked calmly while sipping tea. Yet, for some reason, Glenn could sense a hint of eagerness in his grandmother's tone.

Glenn politely declined his grandmother's offer, using Dumbledore's reasoning.

"Hermione firmly believes in this, and she wants to prove herself through this incident." However, it was clear that Lin Yingqing didn't buy such a reason, which could only fool small children. Glenn then revealed the real reason.

Lin Yingqing understood.

"Those who seek recognition often take on responsibilities that shouldn't be theirs. While their courage is commendable and their actions praiseworthy, risks remain. Glenn, you need to keep an eye on Hermione."

"I believe Hermione has already demonstrated enough capability to handle this matter on her own. Even without my help, she can resolve this incident," Glenn nodded but said this nonetheless.

After Hermione's emotional outburst last time, Glenn had begun reassessing her abilities from a more objective perspective. He realized that she was indeed capable of standing on her own and was no longer the fragile young girl he had imagined needing constant protection.

This was his objective evaluation of Hermione's abilities. Now, only Hermione herself and her concerned elders doubted her. Others either admired, praised, or envied her.

Hermione had long stood out among her peers. It was only the filter in her own heart, when she examined herself in her inner world, that made her feel the need to prove herself.

Lin Yingqing eventually gave up her idea of sneaking into Hogwarts for a visit.

"If you'd like to visit Hogwarts, Grandma, why not ask Dumbledore? I'm sure he would agree," Glenn suggested.

"You should address him as 'Headmaster Dumbledore' or 'Professor Dumbledore.' Be polite, Glenn," Lin Yingqing said as she patted Glenn's head. Glenn didn't respond, and she didn't press the matter.

After all, he was her grandson, and she would naturally indulge him.

"Huh? Glenn's hair feels quite nice too! Almost as good as Hermione's."

Lin Yingqing's eyes lit up. She hadn't paid much attention before, but now that she stroked it longer...

The more she touched it, the more she wanted to.

Reluctantly withdrawing her hand, Lin Yingqing waved it and offered a mysterious smile.

"No worries. I'll definitely have the chance to visit your school in the future. When the time comes, you and Hermione must give me a proper tour."

"Oh, and it might not just be me. Some students from our North China School of Sorcery might join as well."

"Is this the agreement between Great-Grandfather and Dumbledore?" Glenn wasn't surprised. He knew about it but wanted to confirm its accuracy.

"Yes. Later, I'll lead some of our school's students to Hogwarts to experience a term of learning with the young wizards."

"However, the exact timing hasn't been finalized yet," Lin Yingqing said.

After finishing his business, Glenn didn't linger on the other side of the Teleportation Door and promptly returned to Hogwarts.

...

With books, time flies; without them, it drags. Time, like the author's life savings, slips away unnoticed. At Hogwarts, the young wizards spent a seemingly peaceful yet subtly unsettling month amidst their fears.

For now, everything appeared normal. The attacks had ceased, and the Heir of Slytherin seemed to have vanished, employing a guerrilla warfare strategy. The young wizards' vigilance gradually waned in the daily routine of calm.

Of course, those who were unusual remained so—Ginny Weasley, for instance, and Harry and Ron as well.

The two of them rarely appeared in the Gryffindor common room anymore. Instead, they were often spotted in the infirmary or the library.

Seeing these two troublemakers in the library was an anomaly in itself.

According to certain information from a pale, sharp-featured boy with light blond hair named Draco Malfoy, the two would enter the infirmary looking pained, then emerge later with suspiciously cheerful expressions, clutching something as they hurried off to the library.

Glenn said nothing, but Draco continued to observe their actions with great interest.

Fine, as long as it makes you happy.
