Chapter 29 -  "So what happened was..."

"You overdid," Tsunade said to Akane, who just smiled at her words. Seeing him like this, Tsunade rolled her eyes and instead asked, "Did something happen?"

"Hmm, not much. I thought they wanted to use me for the usual Senju-Uchiha conflict." Akane said with a shrug. Hearing him, Tsunade narrowed her eyes and asked, "What did they say? I can more or less guess what is going on, but did they say anything?"

"Nah, they didn't say much. Also, the ANBU and ROOT ninjas must have left?"

"Hmm, they have left. But with what you have shown? Danzo would place you on your hit list. As for the teacher, I am sure he will contact Grandma about you and try to make you a ninja of Konoha."

Tsunade looked at Akane in annoyance and said those words. She knew Akane wouldn't do anything without any reason and he must have some plan about his actions.

"So, what plan do you have?"

Akane looked at Tsunade while shaking his head and said, "I don't have any plan. I just did what I felt like."

"Liar." As soon as Akane said those words, Tsunade replied and put him in a headlock. Noticing her actions, Akane rolled his eyes and said, "What? I really didn't have a plan. Also, wouldn't the situation be better for you? Now you can take more missions than before."

Tsunade looked at Akane as she heard his words. He matched her gaze, and they stared at each other for some time. Looking at Tsunade's eyes, Akane understood she wouldn't back down without hearing everything.

A thought crossed his mind as he recalled Kaguya mentioning that she had talked to Tsunade and told her that he shared everything with her daily.

Thinking of this, a mischievous look appeared in his eyes and seeing the change in his expression, Tsunade wondered what thoughts he was having.

"Do you want to listen to everything?"

Tsunade looked at Akane, who asked the words. Even though the words felt simple, Tsunade had a feeling that there was some hidden meaning behind them. The look in his eyes further strengthened her thoughts, but still, she replied, "Yeah,"

"Everything?" Akane asked again, the smile on his face widening and looking at the teasing look in his eyes, her eye twitched.

"Yeah, everything." She still replied, and Akane chuckled at her words.

"Okay, let's sit down and talk," Akane said, getting out of her hold and pulling her to sit with him. Tsunade didn't resist his actions, and she found herself sitting on his lap.

 "So what happened was..."

And he started to talk about what happened from start to end. Tsunade started to listen to his words with their gazes matched. As time passed, she didn't even notice how she got lost in between and just kept on looking at his face with a silly smile on her face.

Even though Akane noticed this, he didn't stop speaking since it would break and kept speaking until he explained everything. When he was done, he kept on looking at the silly look on her face until she came to her.

When Tsunade understood what had happened, her expression changed. A blush appeared on her cheeks, and as she was about to move away to hide her expression, she heard his murmur.

"Cute,"

Her body froze at his words. Even though she had heard his compliments before, something felt different in this one. Was it because their relationship was clear or something else? She didn't understand, but something felt different.

"If they weren't coming, I would have kissed you."

Akane spoke with an annoyed face. He noticed two people coming in their direction, and his words made Tsunade come to her senses. She noticed the position she was in, and two different thoughts appeared in her mind, which were to get up or not.

With a conflicted look on her face, she got up from his lap and Akane rolled his eyes at her words with a wry smile on his face.

'Because I am not strong,'

The words rang in his mind and Akane took a glance at Tsunade, who had changed her expression to a serious one and he turned his head towards the direction from which people were coming.

"Tsunade-Sama, an emergency!"

Tsunade looked at the Medical-nin, her expression shifting into one of complete focus. "What's the situation?" she demanded, her voice firm yet calm.

The medic-nin who had arrived was panting, his forehead glistening with sweat. "A squad returning from a border skirmish was ambushed. One of them is in critical condition—massive internal bleeding, severe lacerations, and possible spinal damage. They're being stabilised, but the medical staff on-site says they need immediate intervention."

Tsunade's jaw tightened at his words. Various thoughts about the information appeared in her mind, and she asked, "Where are they now?"

"They've just been brought to the emergency tent near the eastern sector."

Akane rose to his feet, brushing off his clothes as if preparing for battle. His pink eyes glimmered with faint amusement despite the tension in the air. "Well, Tsuna-Nee, shall we?"

Tsunade glanced at him, recognising his calm demeanour and what thoughts he had in his mind.

'This will be a good opportunity,'

She nodded at his words and replied, "Follow me, and no fooling around. This is serious," and changed how she talked to him usually.

The two quickly made their way toward the eastern sector, the medic-nin leading the way. The once-quiet camp was now alive with murmurs, as news of the emergency spread. A few shinobi paused in their duties, their eyes tracking Akane and Tsunade as they strode purposefully through the camp.

Inside the emergency tent, the scene was chaotic. A team of medics surrounded a bloodied young man lying on a stretcher. His breathing was laboured, his chest rising and falling unevenly. Bandages wrapped hastily around his torso were already soaked through with blood.

"Clear the area!" Tsunade commander, her presence silencing the room. The medics stepped back, creating space for her. Someone wanted to stop Akane from entering, but Tsunade's presence made it difficult for them to move. Since she didn't stop him, they decided not to make any moves and look at how things would turn out.

Crouching beside the injured shinobi, Tsunade's sharp eyes looked at the injured ninja's injuries.

"Severed arteries, punctured lung, and…" She gently pressed her hand along his spine, her chakra probing the area. "…a fractured vertebra pressing against his spinal cord. If we don't act now, he's as good as gone."

Akane knelt beside her, his expression uncharacteristically serious. "I'll handle stabilising his blood flow and repairing the arteries. You take the lung and spine."

Tsunade gave him a sidelong glance, her lips twitching into a small smile. "You better not mess this up."

"Please, I know what this means," Akane said, rolling his eyes.

Akane placed his glowing hands over the shinobi's chest. His chakra flowed with precision, weaving through the injured tissues. The severed arteries began to reconnect, the blood flow stabilising under his careful guidance.

Meanwhile, Tsunade focused on the collapsed lung. Her hands glowed green as she repaired the torn tissues, drawing on her vast experience. Sweat beaded on her forehead, but her movements were steady and deliberate.

As the two worked in perfect synchronisation, the tension in the tent began to ease. The medics watching from the sidelines were awestruck by their seamless coordination. Even those who had doubted Akane's abilities couldn't deny the skill on display.

After nearly an hour, the patient's condition stabilised. His breathing evened out, and the colour returned to his pale face.

"It's done," Tsunade said, leaning back and wiping her brow. She turned to Akane, who was inspecting his work with a satisfied look.

"Not bad," Tsunade said to Akane. Even though she had taught him Medical Ninjutsu as a side hobby, she didn't expect him to work as seamlessly as he had done.

If Akane knew her thoughts, he would chuckle. After all, his research needed a lot of experiments and he had already studied the structure of the body and various other things required.

Nodding at her words, Akane smirked and replied, "I'll take that as high praise."

'This is annoying, I need to maintain this persona I have shown in front of those ninjas. Not like behaviour change would mean anything, but I have to show some signs that I am only 12.'

Akane inwardly sighed and looked at the medics who had started to work.

They immediately moved in to transfer the patient to a recovery room. Whispers filled the air as word of Akane's contributions spread further through the camp.

As they stepped out of the tent, the setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange and red. Tsunade stretched her arms, exhaustion creeping into her muscles. "You've outdone yourself today."

Akane tilted his head, a playful glint in his eyes. "Was there ever any doubt? After all, I am your student. Isn't that right, Tsu~Na~De~Sen~Sei~!"

Before she could retort, Hiroshi approached them, his expression a mixture of amazement and concern.

"Akane, Tsunade-sama… word is spreading fast about what you two just did. The Nara Commander wants to meet you both tonight to discuss the situation."

Tsunade, who was in a playful mood, had a look of annoyance on her face. She remembered telling them not to disturb her, but it seemed she had to have another talk with the Commander. A groan escaped her lip,s and rubbing her temples, she replied, "Of course he does. The man can't resist sticking his nose into everything."

Akane chuckled softly. "Would it be a long talk?"

"Probably," Tsunade muttered, her eyes narrowed and seeing her expression, Hiroshi had a bad feeling. She glanced at Akane, her tone and face softening and she said, "Get some rest before the meeting. You've earned it."

The change in Tsunade's expression stunned Hiroshi, and the bad feeling in his heart grew even more.

'My decision of not getting involved with them was really right. I have to inform Clan Head that the relationship between them isn't as simple as it seems.'

Akane nodded but said nothing, his thoughts already drifting elsewhere. He had other plans for the night—plans that involved a certain red-haired kunoichi waiting for him in the dreamscape.
