My breath caught as I looked up at Ian… his tired eyes, the quiet pain he tried to bury beneath that firm jaw. And still, even now when everything inside me ached with guilt and confusion I knew.
[We can't allow our daughter to go back to that monster, stop acting like a fool, and tell him that… we can't lose him also.] Beena argued.
"I want to be your Luna," I whispered, the words trembling on my tongue before I could stop them. "Even if you hate me forever. Even if all I get from you is your silence… I still want to stay…."
My hand went to my chest as I took a shaky breath. "I can't let my daughter go to him…. Please do something about it."
Ian's eyes flickered, something cracked in them, something old and buried and then he smiled. It's Just soft… and real.
"Of course you are mine," he said, reaching out, and lacing his fingers through mine. His voice was low, almost a murmur. "I will never allow myself to go with anyone else… even if that is your wish"
